First time I came here, they were having a staff meeting in the front office. From the waiting room, I could hear the meeting clearly. At that meeting, the manager stressed that they need to get as many 5-star reviews as possible, since if they keep their rating above 4 stars, they can charge insurance companies more for each appointment. After every appointment, I receive requests for me to review them and leave a good review. Now I know why.
After my first appointment, I received a notice from my insurance company that showed that this medical group had diagnosed me as being "morbidly obese". The notice was to inform me that a test for Vitamin D deficiency would not be covered because it wasn't medically necessary. Two points:
(1) I am NOT morbidly obese, and I was upset that they had shared this diagnosis with my insurance company. I called the office and it came to light that they had put my height into my chart wrong, entering it as 5'1" instead of 5'11". When I went for a follow-up appointment, I expressed concern over this with my provider. Without looking up from her chart, she said, "Well you are morbidly obese; your BMI is over 30." I wanted to scream at her to LOOK AT ME, since a visual examination of the patient might have indicated that they have a record-keeping error.
(2) I called the office about the Vitamin D test, and they said they would add a note to my chart that said I reported fatigue, since that is a symptom of Vitamin D deficiency. I let them do it because I didn't want to get stuck paying for the test, but I did not report fatigue. In fact, I recently asked for a copy of my records, and in the notes from that first appointment, it states that the "patient does not report fatigue". I get the impression that this practice has a habit of ordering unnecessary tests and doing everything possible to milk insurance companies for all they are worth. Unfortunately, I worry that if the laws ever change about insurance and pre-existing conditions, then I am going to be screwed by this office's shenanigans.
I would like to note here that I called their office and told them that I wouldn't be able to give them a positive review. I told them I would rather discuss the issues with them so they could have an opportunity to fix it, rather than immediately turning to leave a negative review. I received multiple promises that I would get a call back to discuss, and I called several times to attempt, but I never received a call back. So, when I received yet another request for a review today, I figured they had their chance, and here I am.
Some other information: I have been here three times. My appointment has started significantly late every time. This most recent visit started about 25 minutes late, and the provider spent approximately two minutes with me. This is after me strategically setting my appointment for first thing in the morning to avoid a long wait. This most recent visit (late April 2020) appalled me, because this office was taking NO PRECAUTIONS to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This is especially egregious, because their office caters to a lot of senior Medicare patients. Patients were still waiting in the lobby, no one was wearing a mask, I was asked to sign a receipt with a communal pen with no hand sanitizer available, jars of communal candies are still out for patient after patient to reach into... I would think that at a bare minimum, a medical office should know to abide by the CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of disease.
I am really glad that I have been able to get into a different practice so I don't have to come back to this office. Their inaccurate record-keeping, bogus diagnoses, milking of insurance companies, and utter disregard for patient safety is unacceptable. But please, give them five stars, because they have coffee in the lobby!...
Read moreMy first experience was last year when I went to the Village Medical in Chandler on Chandler Blvd. I went to the clinic bcuz there was a problem with my eye after a fall in the park in Easter. Dr Liu or Dr Wayne was so great he knew immediately something was wrong and sent to the hospital. I broke my eye socket which ultimately resulted in Emergency Surgery. I began going to see Dr Wayne as my primary doctor bcuz his quality of care. I’ve used the clinic almost a year now. While I love the clinic, the staff and the interiors I can’t stand the call center that Village Medical practices with. For every situation whether scheduling, rescheduling or needing assistance from Dr Wayne’s staff or medical assistant the calls to the call center is pain staking. All their rep are very friendly but I realize their call center must be in another country most of my requests are lost in translation, take over a half hour bcuz they ask a series of questions every time you call. Most doctor offices have a message center you take two minutes to leave a quick message of the doctor’s assistant and you get a call back within 24hours. I had a future appointment set for Dr Wayne and I was called to reschedule the appt. But I found they are closing that location, I said I’ll moved my a appt to another clinic closer to my house and found they are closing that one too. Village Medical, I can tell you why you didn’t find success in AZ, bcuz your idea of centralizing scheduling and messaging at a call center was a complete failure! It’s too bad Walgreen’s allowed you to shrink their inventory and retail space and place medical center in each store. If this Medical center was Walgreen’ s idea and concept you should stick to selling pharmaceuticals. This failure is my fifth attempt to finding a doctor in the last 10 years as I lost my doctor of 20 years bcuz she could no longer afford to keep her practice open, a corporation purchased my doctors practice and closed within 1 year bcuz ppl aren’t a number or a bottom line, my next doctor was too far away 3 city’s from where I lived, the next doctor in the city I lived became a concierge doctor for an additional $5000 per in addition to my medical insurance, Dr Wayne is the first doctor I’ve had in 3 years. On to the journey of finding...
Read moreI haven’t gone a for check up in over 10 years since I didn’t have insurance. Now that I had insurance I felt the need to go in and get a check up due to me having bad chest pains. When I went in they did the normal check up and checked my heart. Turned out my heart was fine. They recommended me getting a X-ray to check my chest area. At the time my gf was there with me and asked the nurse wouldn’t it be better to get an MRI to be a little more detailed with what they are looking for that way they could tell if anything else was wrong with me and the nurse said no we are only focusing on the chest. After doing the X-ray they called me and said there was nothing wrong. I didn’t get a copy of my X-ray nor was I asked to go in to talk about my blood results. All they did was call me and say my liver enzymes were elevated. I asked what that meant since I had no clue what it meant and they stated I can’t discuss. They asked me to get blood work a second time to do a more detailed analysis. When I went into the building for more blood work I asked someone at the chandler office if someone could talk to me about my previous results and they stated no that I have to make another appointment to talk to someone. After my second blood work they called me over the phone again and stated my liver enzymes are still elevated and that they would require me to do a ultrasound. Which going back to before it could have been taken care to begin with with a MRI. Once I got the ultrasound they called me and stated your results came back to possibly being fatty liver. I asked the tech over the phone what were my options and what I had to do and they stated just come back in three months for more testing ? I’ve never been more furious. I feel like nothing got done and I wasted more money doing multiple test and taking extra steps that could have been solved a lot sooner. Not only that they didn’t explain to me what fatty liver was/should except not what I should do to better my condition. This is the same exact thing that happened with my blood results no one explained any details from me. I had to do all the research myself online. What’s the point in paying for this if I’m not going to get the professionalism that I deserve. Definitely not going back...
