Simon was polite and respectful even while he was helping several customers at once due to it being a sale. He made us feel like we were his only customers whenever he engaged with us. He worked with our budget and my exiting ring to find a perfect match. I am pleased with my purchase and look forward to a lasting relationship with their jewelry store. I highly recommend them. Update: I received my ring and it is beautiful! Simon was just as attentive and nice as before. He made some good recommendations regarding insurance for the ring too. I look forward to continuing our relationship. **6 month Update: Update: To my surprise, after having my ring for just 6 months, on this past Sat. 6-14-25, I looked at my ring and saw 2 diamonds missing on the end of the band. I immediately took it back to Ballantyne Jewelers, and I was disappointed that I didn’t receive the same excellent customer service as I did when I purchased the ring. They were polite, but they made statements like “we will fix it this time for no charge” repeatedly and “what did you do?” I was made to feel like this was my fault, or I frequently break my jewelry and bring it there to be fixed. I guess I was hoping for something like “I am sorry that this happened to you, and we will be delighted to fix it as a courtesy, etc.” I have been wanting this ring for a while, and I was very protective of it. Plus, where the diamonds came out, it would be very hard for me to have done anything to cause that to happen. Again, the ring is only 6 months old, and based on the cost and implied quality of the ring, I expected it to last a lot longer than that, if not forever. My wedding band that I have from a less expensive jeweler has lasted for 7 years, and none of the diamonds have fallen out. In the end, they were able to get my ring back to me quickly, and I still would recommend them. I hope that my situation is a fluke and doesn’t happen again. They strongly recommend buying the insurance, and now I see why. I genuinely trusted this company and believe that they sincerely want to help their customers, and I hope that I can have a better relationship with them...

Here's what happened: I went in today because my gold band (bracelet) or whatever you call it got jammed. I couldn't unlock it, the mechanism to open the latch was stuck. I even had someone else try to get it off. But we eventually decided to stop trying to open it because we were afraid of breaking it. The band has two safety locking mechanisms. The primary lock is the part that got jammed. The secondary lock is a latch which clicks in place.
Side note: It's been passed down several generations and I rarely take it off. The last time I took it off was when I hit my wrist in a doorway bending the secondary safety latch on the band. When that happened I went to some jewerly store in Carolina place mall. They were able to readjust it and it that mechanism would open/close with a nice click.
When I stopped by today the front receptionist attempted to get it unlocked and although she was unsuccessful she was super sweet. She called one of the associates in the back to come help.
The gentleman was able to fairly easily get the band to unlock. He asked for permission to take it to the back to further inspect. The receptionist returned with the band and both locking mechanism looked cleaner than I've ever seen them.
I was able to get the band open with some force. So the receptionist asked the gentleman to return once more. When he came back out, he took the band and as he was walking to the back opened it so effortlessly. So I asked him if maybe I wasn't opening it correctly? He stopped and showed me how to open/close the primary locking mechanism properly. He mentioned that soap got in between the mechanism and plate causing it bend and making it difficult to open.
Also another side note: I noticed a few reviews wondering why the security protocols are so strict. Such as the two sets of front doors having a very specific instruction to wait until a click sounds to open/enter. From my knowledge the business was vitcim to an armed robbery back in 2023. Ever since that time I assume the security...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had an appointment at Ballantyne Jewelers to explore engagement rings after receiving strong recommendations from friends. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.
When we arrived, we were asked to wait — not unusual — but it quickly became clear that something was off. Despite having a scheduled appointment, we were left standing for quite some time while other couples were being given attentive, white-glove service: seated comfortably, offered drinks, and working with salespeople using iPads to build personalized wishlists.
It appeared that either another appointment was running well over time or a walk-in had been prioritized over us. In either case, it’s unacceptable to keep an appointment waiting without explanation — especially for something as important and personal as an engagement ring.
Eventually, the front desk associate began showing us rings, but with no real introduction, no questions about our budget or preferences, and no interest in getting to know us. It felt transactional at best and dismissive at worst. Several times my girlfriend tried on rings we liked, and I hinted at wanting them noted — but nothing was recorded. The only ring added to a wishlist was a $50,000 piece, which the associate continued to push even after I mentioned it was out of budget.
There was no discussion about customization, no explanation of the process, and no meaningful engagement. We were rushed out in about 30 minutes while other couples were clearly receiving thoughtful, enthusiastic service.
The most disappointing part? We actually found a ring we would have seriously considered purchasing this week. But after how we were treated, we’ll be taking our business elsewhere. Engagement ring shopping is a once-in-a-lifetime moment — and we left feeling like an afterthought.
Ballantyne may carry beautiful pieces, but this experience was impersonal, rushed, and made us feel...
