We (two individuals) attended a showing at the Kingston Theatre on Wednesday 7-10-24, @1:30 pm showing. I purchased the two popcorn's (medium) and two drink (medium) "special". I don't know if it is your norn to absolutely drown the top of the popcorn with what you try to pass off as "butter." I realize real butter isn't used in the industry, but this tasted and felt like vegetable oil, at best, and it literally runs off the individual popcorn pieces when lifting them out of the container. Another issue was, so heavily salted that it was inedible. After a few handfuls the popcorn had to be discarded. I certainly regretted making the purchase. Totally destroyed the theatre experience for us.
Earlier, seeing other patrons at the concession stand I wondered why so many were declining the "butter" when the young man offered it. Now I know. Obviously these folks had made the mistake previously.
After sitting down, some of the mound (and I mean mound) of overflowing popcorn (who in their right mind would stack the popcorn so much above the ability of the container to contain it?) spilled onto my lap, covering my lower shirt and shorts in whatever the oil you use as "butter", leaving large oil splotches anywhere they touched. Requiring I to change clothes before we continued on with our afternoon/evening. As for my shirt and shorts I was wearing? RUINED! Is that like 90w gear lube?
After such a negative experience I/we will likely never visit any of your theatres again, in fear of the same poor experience. I now understand why the particular showing we attended had so few people...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been delaying giving this review because i really want this place to survive, but unfortunately there are just too many times that the movie viewing experience has just been awful, this last time we watched (tried to watch) Weapons in theater 5. The projector bulb was so old and dim that we barely got the gist of the movie because the majority of the scenes were almost pitch black, we had to guess what was going on. Only daylight scenes were visible, anything taking place in the movie indoors, it was basically just a black screen with some shades of gray outlines.
Even though we complained to the staff they said they ācanāt do anythingā and they know about the bulb needing to be replaced. Basically just shrugged and said they have no ability to do anything, even offer an apology or a free soda. We only stuck it out because the last time we went last month, the movie bulb made the entire movie pink, and because we couldnāt get past that, we decided to leave. They said they could not offer a refund, just vouchers to come back. And this was our time back and instead of pink it was just a dark screen for about 3/4 the movie. And these are just the last two visits. When the theater knows that the screen is pink or dark because of old projector bulbs, then be upfront about it before we purchase tickets and get into the theater. I guess just do not have high expectations when you go here, and definitely donāt risk it if itās a movie that you really want to see, but hoping that things turn around...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs other reviews have mentioned, this theater is filthy. My wife and I chose to see the 2pm showing of 28 years. Only 4 people in the theater including us. Cinema 3 was disgusting, there is popcorn, candy wrappers, puddles of slightly stiff looking gooey stuff, and to top it off the projector was out of alignment. Left side of the screen was a good 6inches higher than the right side. Bathrooms were no better. Messy, filthy, and un-maintained. 4 urinals, all filled with pee like they dont flush. 4 stalls... 1 out of order, 2 of them with broken door latches that dont close, the one that did work had dried piss on top of the tp dispenser... wet counters, paper towels on the floor and everywhere. While I get some customers can be slobs, maybe ask your employees to perform their jobs instead of sitting by the concession counters staring at their phones... this was easily the worst movie theater...
