I joined CrossFit Turbocharged about 2 1/2 months ago. I wanted to ensure I spent an adequate amount of time there before I offered any premature opinions. Like many others, I had no CrossFit experience and went to CrossFit Turbocharged thinking I was in relatively decent shape. After the first workout, I checked my humble ego at the door when I quickly realized how out of shape I was. I had been running and working out at a globo gym for most of my adult life, but over the years, I saw very little progression and the workouts became routine. I decided to give CrossFit a shot because I had seen and read so many positive reviews about it and I needed something new and challenging in my life. When I first entered Turbocharged, I met with one of the coaches and we discussed my health/athletic goals and how they could be achieved through CrossFit. Shortly thereafter, I jumped right into the workouts and instantly became hooked. I remember the very first workout I did; it included deadlifts, hand release push-ups and running. I finished last in the class, I was exhausted, but I loved every minute of it. And then I went back the next day. Over the course of the next 10 weeks, I regularly attended class at CrossFit Turbocharged 3-5x week. I immediately began to see and feel the results; my strength was increasing, my cardiovascular endurance was increasing and my daily energy level skyrocketed. Although I had no prior experience with the Olympic weightlifting moves or some of the other routine exercises, I never felt out of place or overwhelmed. Each class is broken down into groups; those who are new (60 days or less), and those who are experienced. For the first 8 weeks, I spent my time in the "60 days or less" group, where we learned the foundations of the movements using PVC pipes instead of actual weighted barbells. As I gained experience and comfort with each move, I gradually built up the weight. The coaches at CrossFit Turbocharged are absolutely amazing! They are extremely hands-on, they're observant of all movements and offer on-the-spot coaching. As you're progressing through the workout, if something doesn't look right, one of the coaches will spot it and correct it on-the-fly. These workouts are tough. They'll leave you sweating and they'll leave you exhausted and second guessing yourself, but they'll quickly become your favorite hour of each day. The members of CrossFit Turbocharged are awesome! It's a supportive environment/family where members push each other to be the best they can be, and cheer until the last person is done with the workout.
On a personal note, I was suffering from a mild case of sciatica, stemming from a lower back injury in May, 2014. Within three weeks of starting my CrossFit journey, the pain was completely eliminated. I attribute this to the strengthening of my core, lower back and legs, the thorough stretching routine done in each class and the Saturday morning yoga class.

Read moreCrossFit Turbocharged was a pretty great spot for a drop in while visiting from out of town. Friendly staff and killer programming, it's a high energy facility with an energy that will drive you to work harder.
The only reason I didn't give Turbocharged four stars was because while I try to constantly learn and grow everywhere I go, the coaching staff during my visit wasn't the strongest at helping me fix the flaws in a technical oly lift. These things don't happen overnight and I know my snatch is flawed; I've been working with some incredible coaches to help fix it. It does looks like there are a ton of coaches on staff with a wealth of knowledge, certifications and information to help athletes grow, and one was even working out with us during the strength component, but this particular coach running class didn't have much to offer beyond what we all learn in the CF-L1 course (high elbows, shrug, keep it close to the body) and the bigger strike, to me, is that in my Coaches Eye clips he can be seen walking away to manage other athletes right as I pick up the bar.
One big plus is that they did group mobility after the workout and to implement this as part of the programming really sets TurboCharged apart from other gyms in the region. Every other CF in the area where I've worked out in my visits to the east coast have you work out and then just send you on your way. Mobility = healthy athletes.
So check out TurboCharged for some killer programming and maybe take a peek at who's running your class that day? Either way, super warm and welcoming, high energy CrossFit facility for an athlete who has a good grasp of the...
Read moreMy wife and I joined Turbocharged a year ago because our doctors told us we had to lose weight, especially if we were planning on having a baby. Crossfit definitely worked, cause in 6 months we were pregnant. My wife had to stop, but I continued with my training and over 1 year I have lost 35 lbs. When I first started I couldn't run a 1/4 mile without huffing and puffing. Thanks to Turbocharged, I competed in the Mercer Country Triatholon, 1/3 mile swim, 11 mile bike and 5K run. When I first joined, I was worried about being able to do certain exercises, and the intensity of the workouts, but the coaches always showed modifications of the movements to help scale down the workout. Do not think scale down means easy. I would scale the weight or number of reps to make the workouts hard but not impossible. Over time the weight and reps increased with conditioning. I highly recommend this crossfit box. Yes it is more money than planet fitness or other ordinary gyms, but you are getting personal training at half the cost if you got a trainer at one of those other gyms. Class size is usually no more than 15 people with 2 coaches. Turbocharged is the only place I know that offers a 21 day FREE trial membership to get a feel for the place. Trust me once you do a few classes you will be hooked on how...
