I am going to do my best to give a fair and balanced review.
Let's start with the staff. Every employee has always been warm and friendly, as well as helpful. I have never had a bad experience with any single person working here. Always smiling and willing to assist. Gloria the DM is warm and funny and definitely an asset.
The space is beautiful. They moved in roughly a year ago, and it looks great. They have a wide variety of products for a variety of products. Prices are comparable to other game stores. Selection is better, and it's always neat and clean. Really a great space to shop in.
Now we come to the point of pain and why I will not be returning. I have been coming to this store for almost a year to play D&D. We actually started playing before the official launch of their formal tabletop game if I'm not mistaken. Eventually, we were able to get in with a great DM, and things seemed like they were going to be great.
As the Wednesday night D&D grew, it became apparent they did not care about it at all. Tables were overloaded with players far exceeding AL standards. One week a table (not ours) had FIFTEEN people. That's not D&D, thats a support group. We were shunted further and further into the corner, in favor of TCG players. One week, I was so boxed in, I had to ask 6 people to move so I could pee. This store is huge. But we were shoved in a corner and told to deal with it basically. The noise levels were untenable. I could not hear my DM unless I was sitting right at their elbow. Some parents started using it as a babysitting service and dropping off their prepubescent kids to play D&D. They were loud and rowdy. The location is really central for my friend group, but many of my friends came once, had a terrible time, and declared "NEVER AGAIN." I tried to stick it out, because my DM was great.
The last straw for me was last week. They announced they were raising prices. I refuse to pay more money to be miserable. I will not be back unless this store makes major changes to how it handles D&D. They say when someone shows you what they think of you, believe them.
I get the message, Top Deck. D&D players are only worth dollar signs, and you do not care about their comfort or the quality of...

I've always known the sealed TCG prices here are rather high. I've looked past it because they're a friendly local gaming store. However, some interactions I've had made me feel taken advantage of. One interaction recently solidified my decision to never buy sealed from here again. I came in to the store to check for a few singles and grab a couple of packs. I was able to get a couple of the singles I was looking for at a higher than market but still relatively fair price. However, when I was speaking to the checkout employee and made a comment about the downside to the store being the high sealed prices, they responded with "thats the tradeoff for having it in front of you and taking it home immediately" which, honestly, is fair. They then opened up the box that I asked for two packs from and saw it had a box topper. They asked if they could convince me to buy the box. I asked what the box price was, as the store rarely offers any discount for buying a full box; they just multiply the pack price by the number of packs. His response was "the number of packs times the price." When I said thats too high compared to market value, the response I received was "they're priced higher to stay in the store longer." What does that even mean?
I also tried to sell MH3 cards, namely a full art foil kozilek, a few weeks after the set launched and was given a lowball offer. I asked why the price was so low compared to market value, not even 50%. The response I received then was "we do that on purpose until the set prices stabilize." To me, that reeks of trying to take advantage of people, both sellers and buyers. If the store isn't going to offer fair buy prices, just don't buy that set until the store can offer fair buy prices.
Unfortunately, I just don't think I'll be returning to top deck in the future. The store's policies just make me feel too taken...

I have played Magic in, judged Magic tournaments in, visited, and even worked in game shops all over the country for over 20 years and Top Deck Games is without a doubt the best of them all. Top Deck Games is the Golden Standard, the Cadillac of Magic shops in my seasoned opinion.
The selection of singles is in the top league of shops I've seen. My first day setting foot in the shop I observed multiple full sets of power nine in the show case and they had on hand every card I was looking for at the time. Other available products ranging from board games to dice are extensive and well stocked too.
The service level is excellent. Like most game stores the attitude of the owner completely shapes the store atmosphere and Nick is a Titan among men in this regard. Nick is polite, professional, friendly, extremely likable, and passionate about Magic: The Gathering. Nick's love of the game is obviously the engine behind what makes this store so great. That and his taste for good food.
The events at Top Deck Games are routinely catered with high quality food from local businesses.
Top Deck Games is synonymous with Card Titan, a high volume seller on TCG player, and the quality of this particular shop has left a lasting impression on me such that I'll always choose Card Titan while shopping on TCG to support this business even when they aren't winning on price despite that I now live several states away and will likely never see the store front again in person--I'm never going back to New Jersey, which brings be back to my original point.
New Jersey is a terrible place to be and despite this awful, armpit choice of a state to setup shop in; Top Deck Games is a gleaming treasure in the muck. A single, lonesome, isolated beacon of excellence. ...
