Cattle & Cream — Local services in Cherry Valley Township

Went to Cattle & Cream, made a special trip, had never been there before but heard good things. All good things are out the window. Worst experience ever. The employees had no idea what they were selling, where to find the ice cream flavor we wanted and were very rude about having to serve us. All we wanted was butter pecan ice cream, no fat, no sugar in a waffle cone. Easy peasy. Right? WRONG! I had to go to the grocery side of the shop to ask for help. When I did so, the woman SLAMMED HER HAND on the counter in anger! Marched back to the ice cream area , found the ice cream we wanted (it was in the freezer with the big metal door) but she had a sour angry look on her face the whole time. I tried to let her know the girls at the counter tried to help us but couldn't. The gurl that tried to help us grabbed her purse and left.

We got no apology, just really bad angry service. The friend I went with texted me late at night saying how he woke up from sleep, upset about how we were treated and he wants to know WHY we were treated that way when we did nothing to warrant that type of treatment. Cattle & Cream is reminiscent of the old time General Store. With outdoor eating areas, indoor seating(including handicapped accessible), freshly sliced cheeses and meats, fresh vegetables, and many food options, I was fairly impressed. They also have an Ice Cream Shoppe, and Coffee Spot. The coffee/hot cocoa and cappuccino is by Harvest Ridge Coffee Co. Some prices are higher than a supermarket, and many I saw were lower! 😯 Travelling to town costs money, but being able to walk or bike to a local shop is nicer. I saw multiple bicycles outside and was told they may have a bike rack later. Great for emergency condiments and other last minute ingredients, as well, I will very likely be coming here again in the future. Update: Sadly they now sell alcohol in the grocery section. You need to visit this place! The butcher shop is amazing! They have many specialty brats but the pizza brats are our favorite. The steaks are the best, and we have never had a bad item from the meat case! Even the all beef hot dogs are yummy! After you pick up your meat for the day or the week you need to stop by the ice cream side and grab yourself a sundae or a couple scoops! They have Cedar Crest Ice Cream and the servings are huge!
