Today I had a really disappointing experience at a local Mexican restaurant and grocery store. I ordered guacamole and clearly asked for lime and salt. I paid $5 and even tipped $3 out of courtesy—but what I received was a tiny container, barely larger than a ketchup cup (photo attached), with no lime, no salt, and a whole lot of attitude.
When I went over to the grocery side to order chicharrones, the treatment was just as dismissive. I paid over $8 for less than a pound and was met with eye rolls and side remarks in Spanish as if I didn’t understand.
This wasn’t just poor customer service—it felt targeted. Every single woman on both sides gave me the same dismissive energy, like I didn’t belong there. I’ve heard stories about anti-Blackness in some spaces, and today I felt it firsthand. This place is not Black-friendly, and I won’t be returning.
