I had this as a delivery order.
TLDR: Hands down the absolute best al pastor tacos I’ve had since south Texas and best tacos I’ve had in Chesapeake.
Al Pastor gets messed up really easily and a lot of times here it’s too fatty, too gristly, burnt, or flavorless.
This stuff is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. First off I’m not sure if the tortillas are made in house (I’m guessing they are) but hot damn. It didn’t break when you do the three finger hold and was so good.
The al pastor was delicious. It was firm and held in the taco very well. It didn’t taste fatty at all. You could taste the peppers and the classic combination of just onions and cilantro with pineapple is delicious. The pineapple was still warm and the whole meal really tasted amazing.
The rice was actually extremely good as well! It’s something that gets lost sometimes and this one really packed it in. The beans had a really strong herb taste that I was getting but when eaten with the rice and tacos it was delicious.
These sauces. All I can say is thank you 😊 . These are Fan. Tas. Tic. I’m just sayin. Put that sh** in a bottle and sell it. Yes.
Corn was really really really good. I love street corn and that was delicious. It’s something that’s really rare on menus and it’s just so damn good.
The entire taco meal, the sauces, and the street corn were very harmonic and complimentary. It was all very well balanced overall and it’s one of the best meals I’ve had in...
Read moreFirst review of the year is a knockout. I heard about Taqueria La Hacienda from a friend who asked if I had been there yet. Not having heard of the place I inquired about it, asked the general location and made a mental note.
About a week later we decided to have a going away lunch for a colleague and then everyone looked at me... I said "I know just the place." and off we went for an extended lunch.
I ended up having a plate called 'Enchiladas Verdes'. It comes with 3 Enchiladas with your choice of meat, I chose steak. Then the enchiladas are smothered in green tomatillo sauce and cheese and served with rice and refried beans. I added a Chorizo taco on the side. It was served with raw and grilled onion, cactus, yes you heard me right cactus, lime, cilantro & turnip. I'm lucky I was off the rest of the afternoon because I went home and passed out into a food coma. Needless to say dinner was skipped that evening.
My co-workers had 'Pechuga De Pollo La Plancha' which was a grilled chicken breast with rice, beans and a side salad and a 'Burrito Mexicano' which was full of chorizo, rice beans and cheese.
The entire meal was spot on. My co-workers and I really enjoyed the authentic dishes. Everyone had high praise. Service was good with regular checks to the table and refills as needed. I'm looking forward to...
Read moreTonight was the second time I've dined here. Both times I was seriously impressed! I was recommended this spot by my Mexican American coworker who came here from California due to his spouse's military assignment. Both times I've gotten the tacos birria con consume and it's literally the most delicious thing I've ever eaten! OMG!! My husband agrees! So delicious! Staff has been friendly both visits. First time we had a long wait as it's a small restaurant but they will text you when your table is ready and it is well worth the wait. Tonight I had a large mangonada margarita which was huge, strong and delicious!
May not look like much on the outside but inside is very comfortable and clean. Also the menu is extensive and different from your average Mexican spot while still offering familiar fare for the less adventurous diner. My eight year old daughter who only likes American style ground beef tacos was very happy with the tacos gringos on flour tortilla with birria and rice and beans for her dinner. I'm definitely returning and recommend this spot to anyone looking to support a non chain small business. There is a little market attached to the restaurant I haven't gotten to explore yet but look forward to checking out in the future. Ten out of ten...
