Avanti Salon — Local services in Chester Township

So, first off I want to say that every single person on staff has always been wonderful. Always a smile, always very helpful. The environment is clean, and welcoming. It is clear that those that work there love what they do.The services that are offered are great. All with one exception. A few years ago, I had a chemical burn from Aveda color. This was a scary experience. This was color that I had used for YEARS. Scabbing and some hair loss (to be fair, it was not extreme loss) had me terrified. Now, understand, I didn't get upset, or angry. Upon my return to the salon, I simply asked to discuss this experience. I wanted to let the owners know that this had happened, after being a regular customer for many years. The owner came out, a woman, and pretty much sluffed the whole thing off, and made me feel as if this was my fault. I didn't get angry, rather I simply explained that this had been scary and if I could help anyone not experience this themselves, by discussing this, that is exactly what I wanted to do. I was left feeling like I didn't matter, and that somehow I was wrong or at fault. This person made me feel like I was to blame. All I wanted was to have a discussion. Not one mention of "Im so sorry this was your experience" or "We will look into this to make sure that this won't happen to anyone else". or "Thank you for bringing this to our attention." This was a place that I use to refer many people to, sadly as a customer I was made to feel ashamed instead of heard. I believe I am a fair and honest person, but I think it is important to give and receive respect. I was hesitant to even write this review, because the staff is so wonderful, but this, since it has happened, has eaten away at me, upset and bothered me. I used to get my hair dyed here until I decided to grow my grey out. Wonderful work was always done on my hair.

I recently went in for a perm. I have been having some issues with breakage, way more than usual. I do not use heat or harsh chemicals on my hair.

Because of this I've made a doctor's appointment to get blood work done. I should have postponed my perm but I am tired of my flat hair and wanted a pick me up.

The stylist Kim was frank with me, stating that with my current hair health, a perm could decimate what's left of my hair's health. That it will take years to grow it back if it goes bad.

While this was disappointing, I knew she was right.

I appreciate that this is a salon that cares about it's customers hair and not just the money to be made.

Once I straighten out what is affecting my hair's health, I will come back for my perm and a trim.

My only complaint is that they only accept tips from cash, check, or debit card. You cannot use a credit card for tips which really sucks. If I hadn't had such awesome service from them previously, I would probably schedule with a different salon over this policy.

With that said, this salon does amazing quality work with reasonable pricing. If it doesn't hurt your pocket book to tip in cash, definitely schedule with them.

I posted this previously - but have to say that the sustained excellence at Avanti''s amazes me! Excellent skilled professionals who are service oriented. They are interested in establishing a relationship so that they can best serve you. Great ideas, concerned about making certain that your nails and hair not only look beautiful, but are healthy. The front desk - especially Lisa - are always accommodating! Fantastic salon!!

Devan and Marisa are the best - professional and excellent at the services they provide! Marisa's expertise at coloring is exceptional - I always receive compliments. She outdid herself - this week - the color is so rich - and Devan made great suggestions for enhancing my coloring. The cut is fantastic - easy to manage - and looks modern.

MY manicure and pedicure are exceptionally done by Devan - and they last! She chooses colors that compliment my complexion and that take me out of my comfort zone - but end up being so perfect! A great salon and spa experience - the best!! I am amazed at their energy and customer orientation- ALWAYS.
