Was hankering for some Mexican food, my mouth was all ready for some fresh produce and ethnic Mexican dining. The decor is very nice, my first impression. The menu is strange, I can't explain it besides if I want to make my own guacamole, I will at home, and I didn't want to have to read the whole menu to find the simple meal I sought. Portions are described as "Giant", and I didn't want to take home leftovers, so they offered me a lunch portion at dinner price, still not bad, but not making me feel great about it. I got a chicken quesadilla with some vegetables inside. The chicken was good. Everything else was mush with some sort of weird salty thick cheese or cream sauce more akin to dining at a nursing home than at an authentic Mexican restaurant (did not finish the meal). No fresh veg, the salsa was old (can tell by the cut onions) and had a peculiar cream base look to it. My bill came out to $18.xx, so I put out two twenty's to get change to leave a healthy tip. Waited, waited, waited, there were only five other patrons in the place, and our one waitress disappeared. I sat around long enough to hear my slow eating neighbors eat their entire desserts, grabbed the extra 20 and left. (Sorry dear, it's important to follow through each patron to the conclusion of the business...very little tip). The best description for this restaurant is looks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not go here. Food is mediocre and service is horrendous. We have given La Mexicana many many chances to keep our business, given the current state of the world/lack of employees, etc. and they continue to fail. On more than one occasion, dining in, we have had servers just stop coming to the table and serving the table altogether for an hour, to go flirt in the corner with their high school friends or other colleagues. Food was clearly sitting in the window burning under the heat lamp. We tried ordering take out on a Monday since they have little to no business that day. Ordered at 7:15pm and requested a 7:40pm pick up. Showed up at 7:45pm and waited until after 8pm to get our food, and they didnāt even make the margaritas we ordered (left without them). The restaurant was completely empty and they have 40+ minute ticket times, itās laughable. The kicker is, Iām pretty sure we placed our order with the manager and she didnāt put it into the kitchen, nor was she anywhere in sight when we arrived. Such a shame as this was our go to Mexican spot when we moved to this area 2 years ago. Maybe it is just high schoolers running this joint and there is no adult supervision or management, either way we will not be returning unless itās under...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really was looking forward to enjoying my time here as itās a restaurant I have driven by a few times. Upon entering the restaurant we were acknowledged immediately and seated. After being seated we never saw a hostess or waitress for the entire 20-30 mins we were there. We gave them a few minutes to get to us, but no one ever came.
The restaurant had other patrons in there and they were being served without hesitation. We were in the corner away from the rest of the patrons. The only reason someone ended up coming to our table was because I had to physically get up and go get the hostess. When the hostess came to our table instead of apologizing and saying I will go get your waitress, let me grab you all some waters. She was more concerned with if we knew what the person who seated us looked like. At that point and time we knew we would no longer be wasting our time at this restaurant. The hostess left to go find whoever seated us and we got up and left.
The customer service here was awful! I did not want to make this a race thing, but we were the only African Americans in the restaurant and surprisingly we werenāt getting any service when everyone else was. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but we will...
