I can't begin to explain all the problems myself and multiple friends of mine have had w this place but I will tell you the worst. When this park and the tax Increase to pay for it was "sold" to the city of Chickasha, it was supposed to be a nice park/complex for anyone in the city to visit, anytime, and play. Some of us thought it would replace the old baseball, softball, and soccer fields we'd played on as kids that had since been sold to the school and locked(no public use other than Borden park). So, we voted yes gladly and pay the taxes. Then, to our surprise, we were informed it was not for public use. No teams, to my knowledge, are allowed to practice on the soccer fields. To play games on the soccer fields, Chickasha youth soccer association must pay fees despite close to half the games being cancelled due to "weather" last year. Apparently the weather wasn't bad enough to cancel the tournament on the baseball/softball fields though. Multiple teams warmed up for tournament games on the very fields we were told were too wet to play on. So, basically you all are correct. The Chickasha sports complex is nothing but a taxpayer funded...
Read moreHere's what i see... Multiple and massive baseball and softball tournaments here 6 months out of the year almost every weekend. Teams from all surrounding states come to play only to be disappointed by the inevitable rain out. Now, here's what I don't understand... I live fairly locally, I've watched this happen over and over again for the past 20 years AND have participated in numerous baseball events here over the years. Has it NEVER occurred to management to purchase tarps for the infields with the money earned from the events over the past 20 years? Is it THAT difficult and/or expensive to do so? We did it for the city fields in our town and we don't have NEAR the money going through our fields that this one does. This weekend (May 22-25, 2020) there are teams that have traveled from TX, AR, KS, CO, and MO to play and have paid in an amazing amount of money to do so. But now, because of that kind of mismanagement, they are unable to play on the opening day and everything is now on hold because of a couple inches of rain last night. Buy some tarps. Make Oklahoma look a...
Read moreThis has to be one of the worst parks ever designed. We expect to walk around ballparks but this one is ridiculous. They have two sets of fields on opposite sides of the sprawling property. They book so many teams that the giant parking lot is full. They have a gate by the second set of fields but are to cheap to pay someone to sit there to collect money so you end up parking 100 feet from the field your playing on then have to walk 1/2 mile around to the other gate and back to where you parked. Chickasha sports complex....open the second gate!!!!! I pay $6 to get in. Take the admission for 20 people out of the thousands and pay a second gate person. The fields are decent and concessions are nice so it's...
