It's a good school with good academics and good food with good resources and gives out a lot of money to pay for your education but... People aren't as respectful and walk right in front of you and seems like they have no common respect and act like zombies and... WHAT EVER YOU DO!!! DO NOT LIVE IN THE COMMONS APARTMENT AND IF YOU DO, MAKE SURE YOU PICK THE TOP FLOOR because you don't want anyone living above you. The commons apartment is such a POORLY CONSTRUCTED building and you can literally hear every footstep a person makes above you. I currently live there and it's PURE HELL. I'm barely in the apartment but when I am I need to relax and the people above me are SO FREAKING LOUD, I can't relax. I've had a problem with them ever since I first moved in and it makes my heart beat so fast because it pisses me off. I've even talked to the people that live on the same floor as them and they even told me that particular room is VERY LOUD MOST OF THE TIME. I've even tried to get the hall director involved but she must be slow at understanding because she literally did nothing about it. I feel like I can't even sleep in my own apartment I pay $9,000 a year for. The sounds some times are so loud that the sound is equivalent to a thunder sound that is directly above me. I pay so much money a year to get a good education here, and paying so much for housing, so, since this school is soooooo much money and such a beautiful looking school, why in the hell would they have such a poorly constructed building? They should at least mention that before you first move in! When I was picking out my room for next year, I made sure I'm living in a different apartment on the top floor and I mentioned to the woman that handles where you're going to live how poorly constructed it is and she said "I'm not going to say that it is poorly constructed (as if she didn't want to say anything bad about it)," but I'm bad mouthing it be rude, I'm just being brutally honest. She can say that because she doesn't live here but this review is not so much to be rude, it's to give new students or just students who are thinking about moving into the commons a fair warning. I remember, it was 2AM and I had to be up by 7:30AM and the sound was so loud it abruptly woke me up and I've sent the R.A up there sooooo many times but it still happens. Most days I just walk around like a zombie because I can't even sleep! And if I can't even sleep in my own apartment... that's a problem. So, in conclusion, don't EVER LIVE IN THE COMMONS APARTMENT AND IF YOU DO, MAKE SURE YOU LIVE ON THE TOP...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE 2024 AUGUST Well, well, well. Google gave me a 2 year break this time. School starts in 2 weeks, and this place is a ghost town. I'm sure things will pick up soon. Campus looks fantastic. You should schedule a visit while parking is easy!
UPDATE 2022 SEPTEMBER Once again Google Maps is really interested as to how Xavier University has changed in the last 3 months. Answer: school started late August. More people on campus.
UPDATE 2022 JULY Wow, Google is really keeping tabs on this place! I was just prompted to update my review from just 2 months ago.
So what's changed in the last 2 months? Spring semester has concluded and most summer courses are online, so very few students or faculty on campus. Also the Curritos closed for the summer.
UPDATE: 2022 May
Same great campus. Fresh new campus president.
May 2021
I'd write this review in latin, but only the Jesuits and some students would understand it. Come for the personal, small campus feeling, stay for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow. Move in day is horrible. We have been in a line in our car for over an hour. And not even close to the bldg.....and this is just freshman in a fresh soph dorm, I can only imagine what the freshman only dorm is like. Really? You have been in this business for years and no one has figured out how to time this better? How about a two day move in and spread out the crowd? First impression is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. This is not our first kid going to college, other universities have figured it out. Wow. This...
