I signed up at this gym on May 7, very excited to be able to stay consistent because of their kids club. I was going to get the $9 membership, as I’m a single mom and couldn’t really afford the others at the time with kids club, which is an additional $20 membership. I made this clear to the guy signing me up, and he said they actually had a great special going on. For $1 down, I could sign up for Sweat Squad. He told me my first payment and annual fee would not come out until 30 days from then, and that the Sweat Squad membership would be $22(and some tax, making it a little more than $24 a month) and that I would get the highest membership($30 one) for the price of the middle tier ($24). He said I would get to have my boyfriend on the membership , and that we could both come in under one basically ‘family’ membership. I told him that didn’t make sense, sounded like they’re losing money, and clarified that I was getting the highest tier membership for $24 a month plus kids club. He confirmed and said “Yeah, so basically you’d be getting 2 memberships for the price of one, you’d be paying $44.48 every month after your annual fee which is $59.99 and it won’t come out until a month from now. So like $105 in 2 weeks then $44.48 after. But just $1 today.” I was so excited so I went with that option. TWO WEEKS LATER I wake up to $197 charge, completely overdrafted me. I’m a single mom who was in between jobs at the time, so this was big for me. I went in and the guy who signed me up happened to be at the front desk. I asked if he can tell me why they just charged me $200 and why it was only 2 weeks after signing up and not 30 days. He said he didn’t know. Him and the other associate were both both confused at the price— then he said “oh, because you have the sweat squad, so you were charged for your membership and annual fee and kids club plus your boyfriends membership and annual fee.” I said WHAT?? You told me it was $44 plus annual fee so that doesn’t make sense. He said “plus your bfs account.” This dude just told me whatever he needed to when we were ALONE signing up and then told the truth once he was INFRONT of another employee! I told him he did not say this when we signed up and he pulled the “I tell everyone the same thing when they sign up.” I used to be Op’s Manager for LA Fitness and sadly, I know there can be a shady gym culture of just saying whatever to secure a deal(not all sales people but a lot). Not only did he not say that in sign up, but it was also 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I asked to speak to the manager, who said they have two different times that a membership could come out which could be 2 weeks or 30 days (wtf?) and that the guy must not have checked which type this sign up would be (not my problem). He also said that he shouldn’t have explained the membership as “2 for 1” and that he would get with him & sales team to make sure they all understand what they’re selling. This was escalated to the GM Trevor who was really helpful, did immediate cancel, and signed me back up the correct way. However, it’s been 2 weeks since I was told I would be refunded. As of last week, it was still “waiting for approval” after already being told it was approved. I haven’t heard from anyone, still haven’t gotten a refund, and can’t even call to check in because I HAVE NO PHONE SERVICE SINCE I COULDNT PAY MY BILL DUE TO THIS BULLSHIT CHARGE. Everytime I’ve gone in to ask for him the past few days he’s not there, and the people taking notes, who I’ve left my email with, are obviously not relaying the message to him. I’m fed up and hopefully this review can get their attention. You took my money immediately, you should find a way to refund it immediately. I’m cancelling the new membership if the situation is not resolved this week. This has effected me being able to pay my full rent and my phone bill, all because their staff is not properly trained. Read moreI've been going to this gym for almost a year now and there are MANY issues with this gym that need to be addressed. OVERCROWDED! By far the most crowded gym I've ever been to in my life. Even at 6 in the morning, you literally have to wait to get on machines or benches. It's even worse after work. The only times you can come are early afternoon and late at night without having to fight for equipment. This gym could EASILY tighten up their guest policies and raise their prices to ensure a more comfortable experience. It's almost insulting when I receive ads in the mail about a new promotion with the gym. YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE MEMBERS! Enough is enough! The place is riddled with teenagers who have ZERO gym etiquette. These kids are constantly filming Tiktoks not only in the workout area but also in the bathrooms, which is highly disrespectful and egregious. I've literally seen a line of teenagers in the men's bathroom waiting to take selfies in a particular mirror. It's honestly pathetic and management needs to police this behavior because NO ONE appreciates being filmed in the crosshairs of these idiot teenagers Tiktoks. The Men's sauna is ALWAYS broken. I know it's likely because some of the dumb teenagers pour water onto the hot rocks. To the gym's credit, they do have signs saying not to do that, but again this gym has a massive teenager problem, and it trickles into almost every awful aspect of this gym. This could all be remedied by raising your prices and stopping being so lenient with the guest passes. I feel so awful for the poor custodial female worker who has to clean the Men's restroom while men are still in there. She closes off the bathroom with a sign, but you can't just restrict your overcrowded gym from not using the bathroom while she cleans it. You can't just deprive your members of your sauna while she's cleaning. I'm sure she's seen absolutely disgusting men with their junk hanging out all the time. All because this gym is too cheap to have one of their male employees clean it. Even though this gym makes PLENTY of money with how packed and oversold it is.
I've been going to the gym regularly for over a decade, and this specific EOS is by far the most uncomfortable workout experience I've ever dealt with. I'm in the process of finding a new gym, and I cannot wait for the day I get to tell management that I'm leaving this hellscape forever.
Do better. You have the funds. You have the manpower. There is no excuse for this gym to be run like an unsupervised...
Read moreTwo areas of concern regarding this gym. I will say overall the gym is a good workout facility. Like all gyms staff focus on enrolling new members. Rarely do you see staff members engaging with current members. They act like members themselves constantly ignoring you to the plague. You scan your badge and off you go. I suppose "trainers" are scattered in the building "motivating" upgraded members. Then you have the porters who are lazzzzzzzy. I saw two different porters walk pass two white towels on the floor. Did they pick up? Absolutely not. I can only speak for the mens locker room. Before I touch on the porters l most address the lockers. I can only assume the younger members do this. There are days you can not find an available lock do to members putting there backpacks in random lockers with NO LOCK. There should be a designated area for members without lockers to place their bags etc. Now concerning the porters. The locker room is generally a health hazard. Days you go in the sauna to find the floor saturated with sweat 💦. I only hope they bleach or appropriate cleaner daily to kill bacteria that exists. And finally the interiors of the lockers. I have never seen any porters clean the interiors of the lockers. Their idea of cleaning is removing physical stuff not spray cleaning. ALL gyms miss this importance. The base is dirty with hairs and god knows what else. Occasionally I will get a tissue with soap and water to clean. But because management does not see this as important the porters are happy. They go through their daily routine pretending to be important. Do not get me wrong they are "working" but not working towards giving members a great experience. They could probably careless. Management probably does not see this aspect of cleaning as important why should they?
