Hannaford — Local services in City of Cohoes

It’s unfortunate that I have to give this store two stars. I have shopped at the store for over 20 years. The pharmacy is amazing and I will review them on a separate page just so they get a good review because they have always been phenomenal. However, I went in there yesterday I was on a quick break so I went through self checkout with three items. One of the items was a 50% off valentine bag of candy I was bringing Back to work and it rang up the wrong price so I hit my little light that I needed assistance mind you I am directly behind the rude black/Hispanic woman working the customer service desk and (I’m only giving her race/nationality description so they know who I’m speaking of. ) I was directly behind her at the very first register with my light on. I waited politely while she rang out five a total of five different people without turning around, which was perfectly fine. I was waiting patiently she then was done ringing turned around and began walking diagonal to address a coworker at another empty register that was down. I simply said, excuse me and she put her hand up in my face in like a “wait” type gesture mind you she was very close to me so it was like I was a child interrupting her and when I said how rude that was, she said she is only one person and I said I understand that all I said was excuse me. She then hastily came over keyed something in on the register that I was on and walked away. It still continued to say that I needed assistant logon, and I waited, and I waited until my lunch break ran out so I left and left my items there. this is not the first time that I have had a rude encounter with this woman and I’m seeing other reviews of people that have also had rude encounters with this woman number one I’m not a child, number two it is so good that I was on work time and in work clothing because it kept me under wraps it’s sad because I really like most of the staff at the store and I will continue to go to that store for the pharmacy, but I will no longer shop there. I will give my business somewhere else because if this woman is that unhappy with her job, then she needs to be taken off customer service roles, or find a job that you don’t have to interact with people if you don’t know how to act around people,...

While I find the variety and prices as good as any other Hannaford (so pretty good), this particular Hannaford seems to make virtually no attempt to make sure customers and even their employees where masks or where them properly. I would say at least half of the people I saw here (on 11/3) had their noses uncovered by their masks. There were also a few people just waking around with their mask hanging below their chin, and even some with literally no mask at all. I watched a group of three employees from the deli and bakery area surrounding a person with a service dog- the customer's mask was a bandana hanging around their neck, all but one of the employees had their face masks below their noses, and they were all talking and laughing in close proximity as they pet the service dog. So well within six feet, masks on improperly (if at all), petting an unknown animal, and increasing the likelihood of spreading moisture droplets via laughing without proper face coverage. The employees then went back to their stations without washing their hands or sanitizing, and the customer walked away with their mask still hanging around their neck. I really prefer the Hannaford franchise for many reasons - not the least of which is their support of the LGBTQ+ community. But this particular Hannaford is a health hazard. It's not a safe place to be, especially with Covid cases in...

I go here because it's convenient because other than the price chopper, there's really no other food grocery store plus the ladies upfront are so nice. Like the kindest women on earth. So it's not all bad.That's this places saving grace though. But lemme tell you something, I just moved here, and I guess this city has a nice amount of crime or something because they got an armed security guard hawking people up front. Alright whatever, wouldn't bother me if the one from last night (8/15) wasn't eyeing me and my boyfriend down and tucking in his gun as soon as we walked in. Like dude we just wanna buy our groceries what is good with you? I go there the next day to get a bunch of produce for my juicer and there's zero restock, i got the few kale they had and when I got home I noticed the organic one was spoiled. Like cmon what is this? Maybe I just came at a bad time but Hannafords is already overpriced compared to Walmart and shoprites so I don't want spoiled food on top of that. That being said again, the workers there are so so lovely and I hope they get promoted or a raise, something, but the security guard just scaring people for no reason and the spoiled food can beat it.
