More than happy to call Corning Bike Works (aka Margo & Tom) my LBS. I enjoy doing all my wrenching but I so enjoy all my trips to the store so much to stock up on stuff I need and stuff I don't need but must have. For me, it is the friendliness, warmth, laughs and stories we've shared over the years. I've bought a number of frames from Tom & Margo and eyeing another right now exactly as much as I need an 8th hole in my head.
For much of the last decade, I have been away from home but I make it a point to stop in when I am back home to stock up on goodies. Tom and Margo do go the extra mile to find little things I need. Tom has helped me out in a pinch with a wrench or 2 (I hesitate to advertise this but for the fact that it highlights how much they'll stretch to be of service).
Listen, stop by if you have a need for repairs, patch work, new frame, goodies, a chat about the area or want to marvel at their...
Read moreI am new for cycling and decided to participate in triathlon. Corning Bike was the perfect place and I am glad I went there. The owners gave me great advices to help me explore my options and equipped me with a very good bike that I really like, and with accessories that I need. This was only my second visit since moving to Corning but they took care of me like long time friend and a valuable customer! The owners are expert in cycling and have been in the business for over 35 years. Definitely reliable and provide quality services! I noticed that they personalize their services depending on your needs. I really appreciated the time they took for discussions, to answer all my beginner questions, and the quality modifications and fittings they made for my new bike. Very satisfied with my experiences and definitely I will go back for future shoppings or any...
Read moreI really want to write a positive review, but I can't. Every single I time I go there, it's the same story. I feel like I am always a bother or a perceived threat to the owners based on how I'm treated. I'm decently knowledgeable about bikes and mechanical things in general, and any time I ask a clarifying question or offer any approach other than exactly what Tom suggested, I am met with callous passive-aggression... sometimes a little less passive than others. He wants you to accept his suggestion, not ask questions, and make a purchase.
I try to buy things like bike related parts in person at stores like this to try and rub shoulders with and support small business owners in our community. However, I will not be returning - I'll buy everything online from now on or I'll drive all the...
