I stopped in for a cup of coffee and that was how I learned about the store and concept. My family has lived in the City of Poughkeepsie for almost 10 years and I hadn’t known this was here, so I was very curious to look around. The space is really well-designed and nice to look at, and I thought it was cool that the store is dedicated to sustainable clothing. That said, my jaw literally dropped when I saw the price tags. Even basic cotton t-shirts were 80-100 dollars. I’m honestly wondering who goes here and buys these clothes—I get that they are made in the U.S. and they seemed high-quality, but to me that still doesn’t justify insane prices. I’m not a fan of fast fashion in any way but like many others I end up buying it when I need clothes because it is what I can afford. I’m all for sustainable clothing—and part of being sustainable is being affordable and accessible in my opinion. I feel like this place is completely out of touch with the community and is frankly an example of gentrification at its worst and most toxic.
