Chanatry's — Local services in City of Utica

Today was my first experience at Chanatry's, and it was great. Being here on a business trip & tired of eating out, I decided to make use of the kitchen in our hotel suite. I Googled meat markets near me, and Chanatry's was one that popped up. Upon pulling in, I was a little shocked because I thought it would be a small meat market, but I quickly realized it was also a marketplace. I'm extremely impressed with the quality of service in the meat department. I grabbed a small pack of pork ribs in the self-serve meat counter and asked the meat department if they could slice the ribs for me (my hotel knives are no good for cutting meat). The young man at the meat counter was so friendly and sliced the ribs perfectly. I needed a few chicken legs, and so I asked for 6, and he packed them up nicely for me. Came in after work after a friend recommended the meat selection. Got there around 7:35 -7:40 and pulled the ticket to wait my turn and instead of being advised they were closed for the night the guy caught an attitude and walked off mumbling under his breath . About 2 minutes go by and I see a different worker and asked “ is the meat department closed?” And with the same attitude I was told they closed at 7 ( which I didn’t know since the store hours only say when they open and that they close at 9) I proceed to say thanks for letting me know since the guy in the back just ignored I was here and walked away. Kinda sad because I was looking forward to the selection of meats but the experience alone makes me not want...

This is a small, hometown grocer, which has grown over the years. It has an excellent produce department and an excellent meat department. You can actually talk to a butcher, tell him what you want to do and he'll cut you your meat accordingly. They also have a seafood department where you can pick out your own fish and, in most cases, have it cooked for you. They have amazing fish fries with all the fixin's. They also have a weekly ad in the local newspaper on Sunday and a smaller one on Thursday, with one available as you walk in the store.
