I want to give a more recent experience I had while spending $1k-$2k on spa visits this week.
First the good: Great facility, clean, very relaxing, loved the sitting area with the couches, blankets, pillows and fireplace. The outdoor area with the sauna and hot tub was also very relaxing. I appreciated they had a separate backdoor area with a sauna and hot tub for women if they wanted more privacy. I ordered from the menu and had one of the best salads I've had in a long time - I highly recommend, you can only get it at the spa. The 50 minute head and foot message was great. That was the highlight service. 80 minute massage - This was very relaxing, I enjoyed it. I wish these massage places did the full time you are paying for - this was more around 70 minutes all said and done. The front desk ladies were very nice and helpful. The store had a ton of great Vouri options - appreciated the variety.
The Cons: They do not list prices anywhere on their site. There's not even a price list when you get to the counter. They have a huge list of services, dozens I would say but there's no way to compare prices without going down the list and asking the rep about each price. This really sucks. Please update your site to show prices, I've never seen this before.
It's overpriced for the quality of massage you receive. These are average massages - in my mind you are really paying for the entire experience so I was ok with most of it. I think what disappointed me the most was that when I went up to pay, the gal assumed a 20% tip was ok. UM no it's not. I don't want to pay $60 extra for an average massage after just paying $300 for an average massage. The question they should be asking is, "would you like to add gratuity?" I consider myself a fair to great tipper depending on how good the service is. It was almost embarrassing to have to suggest another dollar amount. I had an overall good first day, but then checking out - I felt like I was leaving on a bit of a low note. :(
50 minute Hydro Facial - was just ok - I thought it would be a little more relaxing like some of the other hydro facials I've had. The hydro machine does burn a bit. The infra red light was incredibly powerful and I think it could have been turned down a notch. I was a bit worried for my eyes, even though I had several layers over my eyes it was super bright. I'm not really sure how much value I received here given that half of my face was covered with layers of cloth.
50 minute signature glade massage - this was the one I was disappointed with the the most. It was somewhat painful at times even though I had asked for a relaxing massage. I was disappointed that there was such little emphasis on the head and shoulders even though I indicated it in the notes. It was also about a 40 minute massage all said and done. What really upset me though, was that I paid an extra $35 to try out their head scrub. I assumed this meant more time in the room and at the very least, a head massage. This was the biggest bummer of the spa. More time was not added onto the massage and I'm not exaggerating when I say, it was basically combing soap along the hairline for about 2 minutes. Perhaps I should have asked more questions and this is standard? I'm not sure but I...
Read moreI've been going to this spa for years. My last experience was much less enjoyable than other visits in the past. I don't think a first time guest would know but having the bar set high during previous visits and then not meeting the bar they set during the last visit is disappointing. When I booked my spa treatments, I was told that the treatment I selected could be done in the Vichy room. I've never experienced a Vichy treatment before and I was really excited to check it out. When I got into the treatment room, I noticed I wasn't in a Vichy room. I asked the masseuse about it and she said the treatment I chose is not available in the Vichy room. She offered right away to change the treatment to be one that is in the Vichy room but I declined since the treatment I scheduled was more to my liking. The receptionist should know about the treatments enough to have given me correct information - disappointing. The tea choices have really declined in quality. Most people do not like red delicious apples but they are the only fruit choice for a snack. Sliced almonds were also offered - why not whole ones?? There is no longer fruit in the water. The lunch orders are done by the guest on a piece of paper, which then needs to be walked through the locker room to the receptionist, rather than giving the order to the receptionist and skipping an unnecessary step by the guest. The menu choices were less than stellar, portion sizes were small for the price and there was nothing filling enough for someone who was planning to be there all day. Also, who needs three types of blue cheese on a cheese plate? The salmon plate barely tasted like salmon and there is no reason the plate should have been as expensive as it was because the amount and quality of the salmon (mixed with cream cheese) was poor. One of the pools was drained (there are three). There were no towels outside by the pool - hopefully you remembered to grab one before you left the locker room and walked down the hall to go outside. There weren't any hot tools to use in the locker room (flat iron/curling iron) as there have been in the past. I didn't bring one for that reason and needed to stop home before going out for the night. The robes were ripped and stained - I returned my first one only to receive another that was also ripped. The love sacs were so worn they were rough feeling and my butt hit the ground because the stuffing had separated. The blankets felt like someone smeared glue on them before putting them in the drier. The conditioner pump was broken in the treatment room. Basically, attention to detail doesn't exist. Customer service wasn't really a thing either. For the prices charged, this should be the absolute best experience. In the past, it always was but this time it was really not great. I'm very disappointed. Again, most of the things I listed wouldn't bother a first time guest but when you expect an experience you've had in the past and you don't get it while paying the same prices, it is...
Read moreI have been coming to this spa for almost 3 years now and up until recently it has been wonderful! The prices have gone up ($65-$75) and the quality and experience has gone down considerably. My last visit was the worst! Now I understand it was in the off season in November, but that should be no excuse. My fiance and I live over an hour away, and although we were only using the day spa, I still called in advance to be sure we would get in. We were informed everything was available. Upon arrival however we were informed two of the hot pools in the op-ed area were out of order. We decided to stay because at least one pool was operational. I was outside first and found the "working" pool full of dead and decaying leaves at a barely lukewarm temperature. The brown slime was more than enough to make us skip the pool all together. After a brief stay in the sauna we cane out to the maintenance guy draining the pool and essentially closing down the area. I pointed it out to woman at the front desk and she responed "but the women's glade is still functioning!" Which is entirely useless if my fiance can't join me. He later informed me the steam room in the men's locker room was out of order. Very disappointing. Many of the towels in the locker room were torn/ripped. The front entry was full of cardboard and packing garbage, and when we decided to read in the sanctuary the maintenance man was constant in and out holding open the door letting in cold air and his large set of keys mingling, whistling and loud banging. Not relaxing. The quality of the food has also suffered. The Mountain Mezza board I used to order on my monthly visits was fabulous! Since then the quality, Size and wait time have a dramatically failed. Also, sliced almonds are not very easy to eat! The new product line available in the showers is definitely not up to par with the "zents" line, and most of the lockers were out of order. The wine selection is also suffering, and the cost of bottles being nearly 3x more than they are at the grocery store is just ludicrous. For the cost, I expect an amazing experience everytime, just like it has been in...
