Kroger — Local services in Cleburne

History: Back in 1987 this grocery store open. Most people don't know that this grocery store went through several renovations. The renovation they did in the 1990s was a big mistake. I wish the store would go back to the original 1980's look, it had a far far better look. It had a seafood counter, a real floral department and the produce layout was bigger. The Deli area was slightly larger and had a small eatery area. The bakery department if I remember was a lot better. The meat area was better stock. Overall it was just a better store. Plus in those days. Kroger tried to keep most of the registers open.

Prices: The pricing at this store is on par with other Kroger's. Cheaper than Albertson's more expensive than HEB, etc. Sticking to the house brand helps keep the total bill down by a lot. If you going to shop for name-brand products I recommend going to Walmart or HEB. They do very well on beef sales and soda sales.

Customer Service: The overall amount of help given at this store is on par with Walmart. When you walk into this grocery store back in the 1980's you felt like you walked into a radio shack. You constantly had people ask you if you needed help or answered questions. Of course, this is an issue with all Kroger's now sadly.

Selection: There for a while Kroger tried to specialize in hard to find items. This was I guess biting into shelf space for their common items that get sold. So they dialed it way back. I find it odd because even at the larger Kroger marketplace, they didn't expand their selection. They just make their common items look wider by having 20 packets of the same cheese in a row. Sadly stores like HEB, Winco, etc. Leave Kroger in the dust.

Produce: Back in the day. The format of the produce was laid out in long horizontal rows. With far more selection and better-looking fruits and vegetables too. Now it has shrunk substantially, with fewer items of each. I feel like it's more of a boutique produce shop instead of a grocery store.

Overall: This was a fantastic store back in the day. But too many bad renovations came along and ruined it. For general shopping and needing to grab something quick it works. But I would look at HEB if you going to do some serious shopping. Kroger's, in general, have never really figured out the Texas market. Even the Kroger Market places have fallen...

Unfortunately I work for an app that has me pick up and deliver groceries and sometimes I have to come to this store and I dread it every time. The employees that work at this Kroger are nothing but rude. You should have a sense of community at your local grocery store but this Kroger needs to be shut down, removed and replaced by something better and with people that know sincerity and customer service. I get treated horribly almost every time. 2 days ago I was there doing my job and the woman working the cashier '15 items of less" line made a few nasty comments that I was holding up her line and rolling her eyes at me and in the end, she was the one who was wrong because she didn't know how to work the register and she did not apologize, gave me massive anxiety and made me feel terrible. As desperate as I am to make money for a living to help my disabled grandma and child with autism, I will never take an order for the Cleburne Kroger ever again. I am done...

I am a weekly kroger shopper at this location for almost 2yrs now. I had to return an item that I bought in June which expired March 2024. While I was picking out jelly tonight I noticed a ton of expired items from late 2023 and Jan 2024!! So I was pretty annoyed tonight, but I was really impressed with your employee JJ who was working at the self checkout. He was so courteous and pleasant. My cart was packed, and he brought over an empty shopping cart for me to put my bags in. JJ also moved my 8 pack of powerade and four 12packs of sodas to the new cart while I was paying for everything. I am always happy with the employees at this location, but JJ really went above and beyond!!! He is such an amazing employee and should be recognized for his hard work!! Thank you for making my self checkout experience so smooth!! JJ definitely made my experience tonight...
