absolutely do not reccomend fairview. the quality of care here has gone so far down hill that a urgent care in the middle of the woods would be better. my mother has been in and out of various hospitals for years due to many health issues. this time, there has been severe lack of communication and heavy lack of responsibility of the nurses and lack of care. just a few incidents, december 14th, my mother who cannot walk at all or support herself, paged the nurse as she needed to use the restroom. she paged for 2 hours with no response and unfortunitely could not hold it any longer. mind you has has renal disease, a uti and kindey infection at this moment and she was forced to hold it in for 2 hours. after that her heart rate shot up multiple times to the point they called the rapid response team in and got her ready to defib her. they never notified us of any of this and we are her medical power of attorneys and contacts. today, she is agitated, transported back less than 24hrs from discharge as they considered her okay to go home yet her body was so swolled from fluid that when i had to assist her with getting into the house, my fingers sunk into her body wherever i touched like she was made of playdoh. more than ive ever seen happen before. definitely not safe to send home at this point. other days we call for an update on her health, the nurses had attitudes and a clear disregard for her what so ever. when i called for a status and asked about certain issues the nurses taking care of her sounded like they worked at walmart and just said we dont know. call back 2 hours later, get a different nurse and mostly full lost of whats going on. no one can locate her doctor, he is rarely there. call his office, hes said to be at a different on that day, call that office to find out it isnt even open that same day so where even is he? today, nurses took multiple hours to bring her tylenol, stuck their finger in her face yelling at her and threatened to call security on her vs finding out what the issue is. come to find out any stress increase currently can be fatal which they are now agitating. she still has a uti 14 days since her initial admitance and she was not sent home with antibiotics. she possibly has a aortic disection that can very easily be worsened which is 100% fatal at that point given her medical history. and these nurses are doing everything they can to make it worse. ive spoked to two male nurses who were amazing. the best female nurse i spoke to who updated me the most of the female nursesz when asked why we were not contacted regarding her almost getting defibed, found out she called the rapid response team.(mind you she they did have the pads on her snd got ready to shock) her response " oh we dont contact people for that. if we did we would have to contact everyone when their blood pressure is high" im sorry but last i checked not everyone is admitted to the hospital with high blood pressure gets defib to lower it especially not while in heart failure so why are we not contacted??? dozens of times she has been transported by ems due to her lungs filling with fluid to the point she is coughin out fluid and cannot breath, essentially drowning by her own body, we were never called and told she was put under sedation and on a ventilator nor asked our permission which at thar point she could not make her own medical decisions. thank you for saving her life but letting us know she is in the icu unable to breath on her own is a need to know thing. fairview needa to reevaluate all of its staff. this is beyond pathetic. they used to be the best hospital growing up. now they have a 2 star reputation on google. god forbid anyone reads those reviews from even just the past 2 years, the place may get shut down entirely. something needs to be done immediately before...
Read moreMy review: I am expressing my deep concern and disappointment regarding the excessive wait time at Fairview Hospital. On their night of 7/14, my hubby arrived at the emergency room seeking urgent medical attention and was subjected to an unreasonably long wait before receiving any care. We actually left after 5 or more hours of waiting in waiting room. The wait time endured far exceeded what I believe to be acceptable for an emergency medical facility; especially with the urgency of his situation and the severity of his symptoms. His prolonged wait not only caused him significant distress and discomfort but also raised serious doubts about the quality and efficiency of the emergency services. As a patient in need of urgent medical care, it is expected to receive prompt and timely attention from the emergency room staff. However, the extended wait time experienced not only compromised his well-being but also left us feeling neglected and uncared for during a critical moment of need. Therefore, we left to go to another hospital in the middle of the night. I understand that emergency rooms can be busy and that triage protocols are in place to prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition. However, the extended wait time endured was unacceptable and fell short of the standard of care that is expected to given from a reputable medical institution.I urge you to investigate the circumstances that led to the excessive wait time experienced and to take immediate steps to address any systemic issues that may be contributing to such delays in the emergency room. Patients seeking urgent medical care should not have to endure prolonged wait times that jeopardize their health and well-being. I saw at least 3 other patients leave due to frustration of wait time. I trust that my concerns will be addressed seriously and that the service will improve the efficiency and responsiveness of the emergency services provided at your hospital. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution to my complaint.
Sincerely, Tenika Lamb
P.S. To the registration personnel and the woman sitting next to her, great job on keeping it together. Continue giving your best despite the backlash received. To the nurses who took my husband's vitals, thanks for being prompt and informative about what he was...

Drove a friend to Fairview this morning (2/22/24), arriving at 8AM for an 8:30AM appointment. Friend was finally called to the back at 9:06AM. Procedure was to begin at 9:30AM.
At 11:30AM - two hours AFTER the procedure was to begin - an employee took time out of her busy day to let me know that the procedure HAD JUST STARTED. After putting their heads together, the staff came up with the ol' "emergency came up" excuse. At no point was either the patient or I informed of the soon-to-be two hour delay. The lack of communication in this "hospital" is breathtaking.
Finally, around 12:30PM, the patient was out of post-op. I was told that my passenger was ready and waiting for me down at the main entrance, and that I could get my car and meet at that spot. Arriving at that spot, the passenger/patient was nowhere to be found. I inquired at the desk just inside the main entrance, but these "employees" were of no help. One was too busy holding a small electric fan in front of her face to render any sort of assistance.
So I went in search of the missing patient. Twenty minutes later, voila! The missing patient had been found!!!
To recap:
Hospital can't maintain a schedule, even at 8 in the morning. Hospital chooses not to communicate (in this case) a two-hour delay to either patient or driver. Hospital restroom (the one on the second floor near the waiting area) is not yet on the level of a gas station restroom, but the day is still young. Hospital staff that I dealt with would have to go UP two levels before they reached uncaring status. Cleveland Clinic Fairview has a multi-story parking garage, and then charges patients to use it. Hey Cleveland Clinic, exactly how much money is enough for you people?
In closing, my oldest brother was admitted to this hospital back in 2010. At that time, the hospital appeared clean and modern and the staff was friendly and helpful. This joint has fallen so far from that day long ago as to be almost unrecognizable.
Given the choice between being admitted here or death, I'm going with the latter. Death doesn't take arbitrary two-hour delays, and the Grim Reaper doesn't charge for...
