Went to the open house to see around the facility. Glad to see the hard work of so many to preserve history in the local area. The two men that lead our tour were full of information on the history of the trains and railway cars they had on site. We learned a lot about the regulations on restoring these steam engines to get them to run again for all to enjoy. We are both looking forward to return sometime on a workday to help and learn more.

Since I have been volunteering there, I'm biased. There are two HUGE steam engines undergoing inspections of the boilers, and total refurbishment of the whole engine. We have just finished refurbishment of the rail car AMERICA. America was the railcar John Kennedy used to "stump" for his first campaign. We brought the car and it's systems up to the latest requirements for Amtrack (use at over 100 MPH)
