Dollar General — Local services in Colchester

VERY VERY RUDE. THIS OLDER LADY NAMED AMY WAS GIVING A MAN CHANGE AT THE OTHER REGISTER AND SO WE WALKED UP BEHIND HIM TO BE HELPED. SHE HELPED HIM THEN WALKED AWAY FROM US WHEN WE WHERE STANDING RIGHT BEHIND HIM WITH STUFF IN OUR HANDS.. CLEARLY WAITING IN LINE TO BE HELPED. SHE THEN TURNED TO THE OTHER REGISTER TO HELP THE CASHIER THEN DECIDED TO TELL US WE HAD TO GO IN THE OTHER LINE CUZ SHE WAS NO LONGER OPEN AFTER WE STOOD THERE FOR 5 MIN BEHIND THIS GENTLEMEN AS SHE CLAIMED SHE WASN'T SURE WHY WE WERE STANDING THERE. WHICH WAS OBVIOUS WHY WE WERE STANDING THERE. SO WE THEN HAD TO WAIT IN THE OTHER LINE 10 ADDITIONAL MIN. SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO COME AROUND THE COUNTER TO CONFRONT ME SAYING I WAS RUDE. I TOLD HER ALL I WAS SAYING WAS SHE SHOULD'VE EXPLAINED TO US SHE WAS CLOSED INSTEAD OF WALKING AWAY THEN MAKING US PROCEED TO THE OTHER LINE. HER RESPONSE WAS WELL I DIDN'T KNOW WHY YOU WERE STANDING THERE... UMM WHY ELSE DO YOU STAND IN LINE WITH STUFF IN YOUR HANDS. SHE THEN CALLED ME RUDE AND TRIED TO KICK ME OUT OF "HER" STORE. We will not be going back to that dollar store again...an the store smelt like trash.. customers should not smell that walking into a store. THE ENTIRE STORE EVEN TOWARDS THE BACK SMELLED BUT ESPECIALLY AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN IYSMELLS LIKE GARBAGE. MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND...

LET IT BE SAID I TRIED WRITING A REVIEW WITHOUT GIVING ANY STARS, but alas it wouldnt let me. In general, the store is a dump. usually the aisles are lined with unpacked shipments, or unpacked boxes are just labeled on a shelf. Most days there is only one cashier who is either tempermental, not around or outside smoking so you have to wait. I called about an item, The employee who picked up was very rude and snarky, as if having to answer the phone somehow ruined her day. when i asked her for the price of a single item she just kept repeating “they range in price” and when i said “just looking for the price of the cheapest single one” i was told that “they range in price” then the employee hung up. This particular item they keep behind the counter. At no point would it have been difficult for this employee to check. Nor should you hang up...

This place is an absolute disaster and the staff is incredibly rude. I felt very uncomfortable with the way I was treated in this assablishment. Very inappropriate music was being blasted, staff yelling at children around the store telling them " Don't touch anything!" With their parents standing right next to them. Alarm systems on all face wash and shampoo bottles that make an awful noise when you go to grab them as if you are stealing! I will never enter this store again, rather travel to Milton or Essex to the other locations who actually have respect for their customers and care about their jobs.
