We went to Cafe Mamajuana for the first time for lunch a couple days ago. We seated ourselves and a waitress came over soon after. Unfortunately, since we had arrived less than an hour from closing, the bakery case was pretty much empty. They were out of their donuts, pork, and beans. We got three empanadas - chicken, beef, and panzerotti (cheese and tomato sauce). They were delicious although quite small for $5.50 each. You have to pay extra for the salsa. We got a burrito with chicken, which was a good size, delicious, and well made. We also got the large portion of La Bandera, which is yellow rice, beans, shredded chicken and tostones. It was supposed to come with a side salad which we didn't realize at the time but we didn't get it. They were out of beans so she said she'd give us more rice but I'm not sure she did since there was not much of it, and the rice was cold. The tostones were really yummy, somehow crispy and chewy and addictive. The tiny bit of aioli was extra and pretty much tasted like just plain mayo. Also, judging from the amount of food we got in the large, the small would have been very disappointing. Overall, if I were to return, I would probably get the burrito and a side of tostones. I may get an empanada but for that price it feels like quite a splurge. I'd arrive early enough to get a donut since folks seem to rave about them. The service was friendly and it was nice to chat with the guy behind the counter when we were paying. I know that food prices are very high everywhere and these people need to make a living, but many of us consumers are feeling the pinch too and need to get value for our hard earned money. Some ingredients like rice are very cheap so no need to be stingy on that and no excuse for serving it cold. Also having to pay extra for ordinary sauces is just...

Been dying to go here being that this is one of the first Dominican cuisine in the area, no other restaurants like this in the area aside from Mexican food which no offense can't compare lol as much as I love Mexican food! Me and my family being from Puerto Rico this was a hit 🙏🏼. My parents came up from New York and I promised them I wasn't going to eat here until they came with me.... Thursday we executed that! First off easy to get there and plenty of parking available. Upon walking in greeted with gorgeous greenery and environment, felt very cozy and welcoming in there. Quickly we sat and waiters attended to us as well as the owner. We got 3 different flavored empanadas (pork, chicken and beef) they were sooooo delicious and full of flavor. I'm very PICKY WITH MY PORK and honestly their pork hit. Me and mom got the "La Canoa" which is a sweet plantain stuffed with some goodies! Mom got the chicken and of course I got the pork and hot damnnnnn it was exquisite. Dad got "La Bandera" which was yellow rice with beans and he got the slow roasted chicken which came with sweet plantains... to be honest my dad complains about everything lol (let's be real) he wiped the plate out! He was like "hunny this was delicious" one small thing the meat was below room temperature which he labeled as "cold" but I'm assuming they were probably waiting for our sweet plantains to bake and bring the food out together, nothing crazy. For all that we got bill was inexpensive and worth it! Word around the block is they got their liquor license approved lol.... we lit now! All we need is some hookah too 😜❤️🤤 Looking forward to my next trip there! Wooohooo This restaurant was everything and...

Wow, this place is incredible!

The breakfast empanadas are so creative and absolutely delicious... we had the chicken and waffles and the bacon. Both were so tasty, I can't wait for more. The real top hitter was the breakfast paella with pork. WOW WOW! The rice and beans were so flavorful, pork so tender, egg was perfect and the plantains were cooked to perfection.

We ordered breakfast to go online... It wasn't ready when I got there (which is totally 100% okay it was super busy and I didn't mind waiting the ambience is so fun!). The folks working there apologized and thanked me for waiting sooo many times and even poured me a cup of coffee. Again I was more than happy to wait (mind you it was really only 5 mins tops). The staff is incredible and you can tell they really like working there.

I am so excited to have this place in my neighborhood... Thank you for bringing such a fun restaurant to Burlington!

Also, for the folks who are complaining about price point... Have you noticed what's going on in the world? Food costs are soaring... People have to make a living... :). The food here isn't really that expensive for the quality. Just be happy that...

I decided to try Café Mamajuana and started with their refreshing passionfruit juice while looking over the menu. I eventually went with the Bandera featuring pulled chicken and pickled red onions, along with a side of plantain fries. The meal was outstanding. The pulled chicken was unbelievably tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the rice, beans, and the salty crunch of the chip. Every bite was a delight—it was honestly the best chicken I’ve had in a long time. The plantain fries added a unique and satisfying touch to the meal. This café is fantastic. The newer location has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of parking and seating available. If you haven’t been yet, you need to give it a try—you won’t regret it. The staff were so kind and i loved the seating and plants! The baked goods were also amazing!!

Yeah good, not sure if I agree with all the hype. I think part of it is Vermonters are so hard up for good food that anything decent is met with mass hysteria. Ordered the pork roll, Benedict, black coffees and a donut. Oh and also a side of brisket. All were good except the brisket which was just not good at all and for $10 for a side was a real bummer. Had to ask for coffee refills and also had to go up to pay and get to go boxes. Didn’t love the lack of spoons to stir coffee or the super low quality silverware in general. Also didn’t love the communal silverware roll up’s just on the table for random strangers to sneeze on and touch. Would try it again if they ever change their hours to be open earlier, if not I’m not sure we’d go out of our way.
