I give the employees 5 stars, HOWEVER DG coorperate, I give you 2.5 out of 5. Yes, DG has GREAT Sales events. BUT(and that's a BIG BUT) Every gosh darn time I have issue (no matter the store) 99.9% (legitimately, 99.9% of the time) the sales ANY of them there's always an issue! These sales are marked in the paper flyer, the hang tags, online. .com site and the App. it doesn't register at the register. So there I stand watching the register price as each item is scanned, making sure I am not overcharged on something that should've already been set in the system. I am not talking about 1 or 2 items on occasion... this is EVERYTIME. Now here are the employees going,"OH, NO!" and from store manager to assistant managers to closers, openers, and regular cashiers contemplating if they should fix it or not BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH ITS AN COORPERATE WHOOPS... IT STILL FALLS TO THE LOWEST ON THE TOTEM POLE! I have seen employees getting fired for fixing prices that the AD stated! I have seen them have to change it and be told by their DM to take it off another item if the system doesn't allow them to change the item that is intended to have the sale. "Just take "x" off this item instead to offset the sale amount." Yet, they get in trouble for something that was told by a higher up. They wonder why they have a high turnover rate?! Long story short, employees who are store managers and under are doing their best. I have not yet met 1 that hasn't been kind and helpful. Not just this store but others too please be kind, have patience, and understanding for what they are having to deal with from coorperate. Another thing, for example, about 3 months or so ago, coorperate did a bug whoops, had red bull on sale and accidentally added the 8.5oz 4pks into the 3 for 7.50 sale That's right. 3 of the 4pks for 7.50. It was a coorperate error. It was in the paper ad, online ad, the app, and in-store hang tags, too. Now, why is it the store manager and employees' jobs to keep eyes on the new sales tags, paper ads, online ads and app ads every week, making sure there's no mistakes in the ads. Now, don't those ads have to be signed off by multiple higher-ups before the new sale is approved and then published? Yet it falls on the lowest of the totem poles' shoulders, and it's their fault for failure to not realize something isn't correct, before coorperate knows sit is messed up?! All I am getting at is DG sales managers and under are constantly being claimed for the lack there of work from the higher ups. The only reason DGs are still around are due to the employees that are the lowest paying doing more than what they are paid for while wearing an entire closet of hats with a smile on their faces. DG, do better and be better, own up, and take responsibility for those "grunts" are the only reason you're still open.
This DG over all is good because of the employees. Things do sell quickly because honestly, it's the nearest multi functional store in a 30-minute plus distance from coloma WI. So items do go quickly. Bathrooms are always clean, and overall, it's a clean store, though beware of the truck day for boxes are everywhere, while stocking...
Read moreThis is the only store I go to in Plainfield. I avoided Plainfield all together before they put Dollar General in. I live 30 miles from a bigger town so this is my quick and convenient one stop, last minute, shop for me. It has enough for last minute quick food shopping for me in between major shopping trips. Workers are usually in a good mood. Depending on the cashier, if they are stocking shelves and you have to ring the bell for them they can be quite slow getting up to the register. Being a smaller town it's nice to have it right up the road, but if you get certain cashiers whose friend is there talking with them and you get up there to check out they may just keep talking around you. Not even acknowledging you as a valued customer and just keep going on with their personal life conversation with their friend. This Dollar General isn't my favorite, but it's also not the worst. Just don't expect customer valuing, super friendly or enthusiastic workers when you are there. There are a few workers that do a wonderful job at making small talk, smiling and making you feel valued as their customer, and those workers make me feel like I'm happy...
Read moreThis place is much needed in the community but has become a running joke with the locals because there is never anybody at the register and the wait times are insane at times. And that’s just to get someone to check you out. Today three of us were in line, hoping we don’t catch corona, and nobody helped. One employee walked by and called for another employee then promptly disappeared. Finally I set my stuff down on a table, walked out and went to the gas station to pay double for what I was about to buy. The gas station had a cashier waiting at the register for me. If this was a one time thing I wouldn’t waste my time complaining but it’s becoming an...
