☆ Updating review based on 2nd & last visit. My friend & I went there on a Friday, anxious to try their baked fish. They tried seating us with a 5 member family (already eating) at an 8 seating table. We said we'd wait at the bar until a table opened up. They said we could eat at the bar, but we wanted a table. 15 minutes later, another couple came in and were quickly seated at an empty table. We stood up to check out the situation, to see if 2 tables had opened, but it was only the one. 2 more people came in and sat at a bar table. We hadn't realized it had become vacant. Another person came to eat, but wanted a drink first, and the bartender gave her a menu too look over. We had each ordered a drink, but they knew we we were waiting for a table. We were never offered a menu to look at. We were never told when tables opened up. All in all, we felt ignored and slighted. There was an open bar table when we left (that we saw, not that anyone told us). But, we decided we were better than that & they didn't deserve our patronage. There was no excuse for the cold shoulder treatment. I won't return.
First time visit, on a Tuesday @ 1pm (07/01/2025). I was hoping to try their highly rated Italian Beef Sandwich. Unfortunately, they were out of it (beef roast). So, I ordered the Taco Salad (full order). It was basically nachos without the cheese sauce; difficult to eat and not very good. Fortunately, I was only out $6.35 + tip for what amounted to be a tiny salad on top of tostitos (that I didn't eat). There was only one employee (that I saw), with about 14 people at the bar drinking & eating, and 2 people playing the noisy video machines. I was the only one in the dining room. It's a cute place. Their menu offerings looked great. If I return, I'll call ahead and make sure they have their signature roast beef. Worth noting, their All-u-can-eat (AUCE) Haddock Fish Fry is only available after 4pm on Fridays (dine in only). They serve other fish entrees throughout the day (Friday). Cash only, no...
Read moreMy daughter and I live across the state of Wisconsin from each other so chose a place halfway from each of our homes. We were looking forward to some good conversation and good food. This appears to be a family owned and operated business that we found online, and it looked like a great place to get some quality mother/daughter time together. She is gluten free, soy free, and lactose free in her eating, so she chose the chilli and cole slaw. I ordered a pizza. They brought out my daughter's food, and we assumed mine would be arriving very soon behind hers. We waited for another 15 minutes, and as one of the waitresses walked by our table, we asked her to check on my pizza. She seemed to acknowledge our request with a nod, but then she was out of the kitchen, working in other areas, walking past our table a number of times after we asked her to check on the pizza! Our second request was met with big scowls! Finally, I got up and went to the bar, asking the bartender if my pizza was coming, and with a loud deep sigh, letting me know it was such a bother to her, and that I had to be patient!!! I The pizza came 15 minutes later. We thought it would be amazing, given the amount of time it took. It was nothing spectacular, so I ate 1 slice and we left. As we were walking out the door, loud whispers could be heard saying we were stuck up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCUSE ME!!!! If they let us know that the pizza takes almost an hour to prepare, I would have been more patient, but still, an HOUR not ok, and then to kibbitz with each other calling US stuck up as we left!! I felt like we were in the Twilight Zone!!! What would they have done if we were food critics! If that's how they want to treat their customers, I think they'd be closed from lack of...
Read moreSmall cozy little restaurant with an up north feel. Very impressed with lots of unexpected homemade dishes and extremely reasonable prices. Had a Homemade Italian Roast Beef Sandwich that was one of the best I've ever had! Really tasted the herbs on the extremely thinly sliced tender beef. The jalapenos were a nice extra touch. Au Jus was definitely from a homemade roast and not some cheap canned bouillon garbage. Now also comes with an Italian Sausage too. My dining partner's gyro was also very well recieved. No pickles on our sandwich plates last visit! Breakfast items just as delicious with a very meaty Sausage Gravy and Biscuits and a well made, authentic Eggs Benedict. They run a smoker on the last Thursday of the month. Never had the opportunity to sample it in FOUR years of visits! Had the Friday AYCE Baked Haddock with Parmesan Sauce Special and was rewarded with very fresh, thick loins of delicious Haddock! Well worth the price and sauce was a perfect compliment to the fish. Chicago Dog was also quite tasty with plenty of toppings. Good looking Sunday Bloody...
