Dollar General — Local services in Columbia

I would like to start by thanking the town of Columbia for the past 4 years of business. It has been my pleasure serving you as the store manager of this location. Unfortunately, as time went on I no longer had the same vision as Dollar General. So I will be opening my own business. Unfortunately, Dollar General is all about making money for its share holders and has no care or concern for its employee's mental & physical health or safety. The lack of payroll issued to stores puts heavy work loads (that list gets bigger monthly) on the staff, resulting in injuries. This is occurring in stores in every state. The logistics of Dollar General is poorly managed which results in empty shelves, poor inventories, late trucks, no trucks. Prices are comparable to Walmart which is handy to have right here in Columbia. The store is cramped and it is difficult to maneuver through the isles. Sometimes items do not have prices and obtaining a price can be a challenge since the store is regularly understaffed. Occasionally you stop in for a single item only to wait ten minutes to get through the line. The greatest redeeming factor is the friendly employees. Several of them are very nice despite being kept very busy during their entire shift. Again, very much like Walmart, I go there despite low customer service expectations because they have a good selection at a good prices. I went yo dollar general, to purchase a backpack and few other items there. The backpack I was trying to purchase was not priced and the was with backpacks that were priced at $5. When I saw the total amount I was confused because she said the backpack was $15 and there was no price tax saying that and I told her there should be a price tag stating that it’s $15 so customers can know. Her response was I know the prices with A attitude and frustration because there was a line being held up because she didn’t take care of me properly.
