Taylor was a legend in Glacier National Park, Montana. Known far and wide as one of the top whitewater guides in the state, Taylor’s name was synonymous with thrilling river adventures. He worked for Wild River Adventures, a company renowned for its exhilarating rafting trips. But Taylor's life had an unexpected twist: by night, he was the premier dancer for Chippendales in Kalispell, Montana, performing under the bright lights and captivating audiences with his charisma and athleticism.
One crisp morning, Taylor met his latest clients, Rick and Matt, who were eager for the adrenaline rush of a whitewater rafting trip. As they geared up by the riverbank, Taylor's easygoing nature and confident expertise instantly put them at ease. The group pushed off into the swift, cold waters of the Flathead River, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Glacier National Park.
Taylor deftly navigated the rapids, guiding Rick and Matt through the surging water with precision. His commands were clear, and his infectious enthusiasm turned the adventure into an exhilarating experience. By the time they reached the calm stretch at the end of their journey, Rick and Matt were both exhausted and exhilarated.
As they packed up, Rick noticed Taylor's impressive physique and jokingly asked if he was a part-time superhero. Taylor chuckled and revealed his unexpected second career. "Actually, I dance for Chippendales in Kalispell when I'm not guiding tours. Keeps life interesting," he said with a grin.
Rick and Matt were intrigued. "No way! We were planning to catch a show while we're in town," Matt said. Taylor's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Well, if you’re up for it, we’re always looking for new talent. How about an audition tonight?"
The idea seemed outrageous, but the brothers couldn’t resist the chance for another adventure. That evening, they found themselves at the Chippendales club, where Taylor introduced them to the manager. With Taylor's guidance and some quick lessons, Rick and Matt took to the stage, surprising themselves with how much they enjoyed the experience.
By the end of the night, not only had they survived a thrilling rafting trip, but they'd also taken the first step into an entirely new world. Taylor's life might have seemed like an odd blend of rugged outdoorsmanship and flashy showbiz, but for Rick and Matt, it was a day they would never forget—a day filled with unexpected twists, camaraderie, and the undeniable charm of Taylor.
As they celebrated their successful performance, Taylor received a call from his brother, Jason, who lived in Hollywood. Jason Momoa was proud of his brother's adventurous spirit and diverse talents. "You’ve got to visit sometime, Taylor. You’d be a hit here," Jason said.
Taylor laughed. "Maybe one day, but for now, Montana's got all the adventure I need."
Before they parted ways, Rick and Matt thanked Taylor and Wild River Adventures for an unforgettable trip. "This has been the best day ever," Rick said. Taylor smiled, knowing he had given them a taste of his thrilling,...
Read moreOur family of four did the half day scenic float at the end of July. Booking online through WRA website was simple and they had indicators how rough/experienced each type of trip would be. Additional instructions sent via email including signing waivers online ahead of time. They are located directly on the main highway into West Glacier and the ride to/from river is only about 10 mins. It was pretty chilly (55 degrees F) morning of our float but sun was out and it was actually quite pleasant - not really busy on the river at all, maybe a couple fishing rafts, and some wildlife out and about; plus it leaves the rest of the day for hiking options in the park!
We’ve rafted in Buena Vista, Glenwood Canyon, and Royal Gorge. Our first time to Glacier and the Flathead River didn’t disappoint (I'm sure the whitewater would have been amazing but couldn’t book due to kids’ ages/weight). Water is the most crystal clear aquamarine blue and emerald hues and can see 10+ ft down in the deepest sections. The rocks are beautiful - a whole rainbow of colors and great for skipping! The scenery along the float was also breathtaking, particularly in the canyon. We spotted a small family of deer by the river edge and then later crossing the small footbridge over the river, as well as three individual bald eagles perched in trees along the banks. Our boys had fun in the raft and skipping rocks when we took a snack break. Water was so calm we weren’t asked to paddle so make sure to bring binoculars and a camera and just enjoy the ride (although I’m sure water levels can still fluctuate and may be tougher certain days).
Shout out to our guide, Leah, for being so good with kids, providing snacks and a smooth trip. Enjoyed the conversation and reconnecting about Colorado! Also to Ivy and Mike, our bus drivers, thanks for chatting with us and dropping some retirement wisdom, hehe!!
Can’t wait to return when the boys are older and do some...
Read moreWe highly recommend this company!! My husband and I went to Glacier for a trip for our 25th anniversary. At the beginning of the week we did a white water rafting trip with Rob that included a wonderful Salmon dinner at the end! The whole trip was so fun!! Rob was very knowledgeable and we felt safe and well instructed and had a great time. Dinner was set up beside the river and we visited with Rib during dinner and was very impressed with this kind and helpful young man! Two days later my husband and I were renting Kayaks from a sporting goods store but called wild river to ask if they rented out wet suits and sure enough they do!!! That made our Kayak trip to Lake Bowman more relaxing and comfortable. My husband had also scheduled a leisurely float down the river with the same company toward the end of the week. This time our guide was Dunbar. He was also very knowledgeable and just a great kid who went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. He provided snacks, water and lemonade and offered to stop anywhere we wanted to to get out and walk around. We chose to just stay in the boat but he pulled to the side a tied up the raft for a while so that we could visit with each other and have a snack. We highly recommend this company and if the rest of their guides are anything like Rob and Dunbar then you can’t go wrong. It was a...
