Dollar General — Local services in Copperas Cove

on 1/19/2025 about 3pm, i sent my husband to buy several items at Dollar General on Main Street in Copperas Cove. He came home with the wrong items and said he wasn't given a receipt. I went to the store with him right afterwards. He said it was a different cashier. The cashier told me he could not refund on UNOPENED for products. After making us wait another 7 minutes ( there was a lot of customers behind us, considering it's Sunday) He then said he would make a 1 time exception and refund the money back to our credit card. We put our credit card in 3 times and every time, we got a message that the card was restricted. Until then, I was going to buy the correct items my husband should have bought but after that, I decided not to shop at Dollar General. I am convinced the cashier was doing something on the register to cause our card to not get credited because no more than 15-20 minutes later, we used the same card at another store to buy the correct items and there was NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR CREDIT CARD. Why should I ever ever shop at Dollar General...

It's everything you'd expect a Dollar General to be. "Ehh" you have some staff memebers that go above and beyond and are friendly as can be. Then you have others that just don't care to be there and you have to be careful because on two separate occassions I have caught cashiers intentionally rounding up my change for a donation without my consent so that they could benefit at the end of the month to see who had the highest amount of donations. That in itself is a problem because I look at that like it's theft. Theft against customers. I don't steal from your store and I would expect they wouldn't steal from me. Asking me if I'd like to donate by rounding up my change would be different. I haven't seen those employees working lately so it's hard to tell if they are still employed there or not. However when an employee does something like that, I could see them also stealing from their own store and thats a red flag. So just be mindful of your purchases and pay attention...

I go in here all the time with my small bag that's my purse now all of a sudden the casher made it a problem when I walked in putting me on the spot which I hate telling me I cant come in with it when I go to that store all the time with my purse/backpack i can understand if it was super large but it was small im 30 years old im not leaving my bag with no one I dont know what do I look like bozo the clown i seriously felt racially profiled by then like your implying im going to steal and I can leave my stuff at the front with him yeah you lost your whole mind I told him its my purse dont and looked at him like he was nuts dont chastise your customers.
