Dollar General — Local services in Cowpens

The staff here is amazing! If I could rank the staff 5 stars and management 1 star. Instead, I will have to just meet in the middle. That is what I would do. I come to Dollar General for the value of their products and the efficiency of service.

But the upper management here clearly has issues. I just walked around the store. One could easily blame the employees but instead I implore rational human beings to blame the organization. A real captain needs to get control of this ship. If the store is doing badly it is a reflection of the store manager. Who is no where to be seen! Managers should make their presence known to the regular customers to establish a relationship. I see the employees doing that but not management. So my next question is how does the store manager get into a position of power and not know how to run a store. Is Dollar General have employee training issues. Something greater is clearly at work here.

Below are the photos of me at 4pm. Walking around the store. Everyone is probably getting off work to see the store like this. If I was a manager at this store, I would be here cleaning it up! You have to treat the store as if it were your own home. You should be comfortable in your home. If people aren’t comfortable, there is an issue. This store is obviously short staffed. A good manager is here at the store setting an example for the staff to follow. The crew is only as good as the captain.

They have this whole container in front of the toilet paper. You are literally blocking the item that people are buying plenty of during COVID.

And finally, would you come to a store to buy milk with mold like the photo I have below?! Like come on...

Good store, only leaving 4 stars because their hours on google reflect they’re open until 11pm. I went in one night around 9:45 and they tell me they close in 15 minutes. They weren’t rude or anything and I was able to get what I needed and they explained that was their holiday hours and are no longer in effect (this was early January). It’s now mid-late February and it still says 11pm which I’m sure has gotten a lot of other people too and they arrive and the store is closed. I almost forgot the google hours were wrong and went there at 10:30 tonight to grab coffee.

Updating my review: it said 11pm the first time I searched as it did back in January. I clicked back after my review and it says 10pm! So the google hours are correct but somehow it’s occasionally showing 11pm which may be a google error and not DG fault. Correcting my...
