Planet Fitness — Local services in Crafton

Below is my review from 3 months ago when I rated it a 4. Below that are my recent experiences. Then: Love the Crafton PF. People are great and its very clean. Just two complaints make my rating a 4 rather than a 5. They removed the scales from the locker rooms weeks ago. A gym needs a scale! My weigh-ins are incentive to keep coming back to the gym. Also no Golf Channel. If we get the scales back I'm back to a 5 rating. Now: This Planet Fitness is going downhill. First, they removed the scales because someone apparently complained. If you don't want to know your weight, don't get on the scale. Its that simple. Then they removed the clock because other Planet Fitnesses in the area don't have one. So, rather than adding one to the other locations, they removed it. Then they removed CNN from the TVs. They tell me that was due to complaints. So the only "news" channel is Fox. Hey, if people want to watch Fox, it's a free country. Use the machines that face the Fox TV. You don't have to use the ones facing CNN. There must be 2 dozen TVs in this place, watch what you like. Unless you like CNN or MSNBC, then you're out of luck I guess. Finally, one of the machines in the 30 minute room has been broken for about 2 weeks. Hopefully they step up their game soon or I'll have to look...

I have a Silver Sneakers membership and I pay $13.03 a month (I was paying $32 a month before joining) so I can tan and use any other Planet Fitness location. I go for the tanning beds but will be getting on the treadmill and do some walking. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The tanning beds are outrageously hot since they are being used 24/7. And, no towels to clean the bed with. They use brown paper towels (I don't think they do a thorough cleaning. You have to use LOTS of them to do a decent cleaning). Every bed/ stand-up are really dirty. There are oodles of people using them ALL DAY LONG. Lots of hair on the floor of the stand-ups. I take a little bag in with me that has my lotion, goggles and small hand towels. I clean the bed/ stand-up before tanning and afterward. I lay paper towels down in the stand-up for the protection of my feet. I would be so mad if I got athlete's feet or ring worn. Do yourself a favor and wipe these down with disinfectant BEFORE and AFTERWARD. I haven't tried the massage chairs, etc. yet but when I do I will definitely clean with disinfectant before and after. Do not make this PF your primary location. I frequented this PF for a couple years and then moved across the country, so I cancelled my membership (at the facility - with the signature of a PF employee). I continued to get charged for a few months after, so I called to inquire why I was still getting charged, and they told me I never cancelled (even though I received a cancellation confirmation via email). The person I spoke to was very rude and adamant that I had never initiated the membership cancellation. So I sent them the cancellation confirmation and requested to be refunded the membership I was charged after cancellation, and they never responded. I followed up multiple times via phone and email, while I was STILL getting charged, and received no response. I had to call my credit card company to block them from authorizing any more payments to Planet Fitness, since they refused to stop charging a cancelled membership.
