Yes, Brookshire's has changed in several ways. For the better, there is a larger pharmacy area and you no longer have to wait 24-48 hrs for important meds because there was no room for the stock needed to handle closures of two pharmacies in the area. The produce area has a new look but still has bad produce to pick through to find what you want. Keeping my garden again this year. There are new coolers for the cold cuts, milks, eggs, and packaged cheeses which I guess is an improvement. There are now some fresh baked breads in the bakery area but some of our senior seniors spoke about not finding certain brand baked products on the bread aisle. That could be the brand company no longer carrying them. Saw a new fuel tank out front and heard we will finally get diesel pumps and new (hopefully readable) gas pumps next month. Of course, as for any national chain, the aisles have been switched around so you can't just run in for one or two items and out the store but may have to wander around for several minutes looking for them. A big improvement is the checkout area. There are several self checkout now, some take card only, others cash or card. There is usually a cashier there to help you get started as well as "learn the ropes" so to speak if it your first time. And, they continue to practice safety health measures with the clear plastic between you and them when checking out. Hubby graded them a 2 but I went with a 3 because, with changes especially upgrades, the cost has to be recuperated and can only be done with price increases...
Read moreThis review is only in regard to the Walgreen's pharmacy inside Brookshire's. Since Walgreen's acquired Brookshire's pharmacy, I'm not at all impressed. I had a question concerning a refill and I tried to call the pharmacy several times, but kept getting a busy signal. On the second day I was finally able to get through. When I went to pick up my prescription the next day, although there are multiple customer windows available, only one window was open. I observed that the person being helped at the time was having difficulty with his prescription being refilled. As I stood in line, I counted that there were 14 employees in the pharmacy. Yes, 14. The 3 pharmacist appeared to be doing their jobs behind their bench, but for the most part, except for two girls trying to help the first customer, the remaining 9 employees seemed to be just standing around. Finally as the waiting line grew larger, they opened another window. So, now that the Walgreen's chain has moved into Daingerfield, is this what we can expect from the pharmacy at...
Read moreThe store looks great on the outside and inside. Young men will take your groceries and load them into your car. Where do you still see that? The staff are amazingly polite. At Walmart you can shop and check out and and a Walmart employee will have never spoken a single word to you. At the Walmart checkout they treat you sometimes like you are a burden and they wish you were somewhere else and they wished they were somewhere else too. Not here they engage you in a quick conversation at checkout they are extremely friendly. They have flowers and plants and a deli with fried chicken and hot foods and they have beer and wine Cokes and orange juice everything you need including a pharmacy. The only thing I bought them on is there prices. It is almost $5 for a Hungry Man TV dinner and it is just $2.88 at Walmart. If it were not for the cheap prices at Walmart I would never go to Walmart I would go to this...
