Nighttime manager by the name of Avis might be a little racist or prejudice even though he’s black himself. Sunday afternoon I went in and needed to pay with two separate cards for my purchases I scanned the first items and went to pay but the machine stopped me as it noticed I still had items in my basket. Completely understandable. When Avis approached he said it’s because I haven’t scanned the chicken I told him it will be two separate transactions and I needed two different receipts, he proceeded to scan the chicken and interrupt me and treat me as if I was stealing or attempting too. Looking me up and down and responding with “mhmm sure okay” as if I’m some type of thief. I have been frequenting that Kroger over a year since I moved to the area and never have I ever stolen a single thing and I won’t. I pride myself on treating people the way you wish to be treated. It rubbed me the wrong way but I had bigger things on my mind and moved on. Monday night I purchased a bottle of wine that is mispriced either on the shelf or the system I have no way of knowing but I know it’s advertised at a lower price than it rings up and the person working self checkout adjusted it for me after I showed her a picture of the price. I return Today, Tuesday night, to purchase the same bottle because it was pretty good. Again it rings up wrong. My wife informs the short , short black haired, possibly latina/white older lady responds with we don’t change prices on anything. We let her know they did last night she grabs Avis, Avis, the lady, and another black lady with short grey hair proceeded to talk about us like we weren’t standing right there. They said we had to be lying and if somebody adjusted the price they’d be fired. Idk what the policy is but anytime something says one price (with proof) but rings up another Kroger typically makes it right. I’ve actually never been told no about those kinds of situations. Avis immediately got an attitude and even proceeded to speak badly about us to a customer who decided to put her input in as well. I felt so belittle and mistreated that I completely lost my cool. This has been my go to store for almost two years now and all of the sudden Avis shows up and the environment doesn’t even feel the same. That man walks around with a mean mug and zero customer service skills and this is who you entrust to be your manager? I’m incredibly disappointed and I will be following up with management on whichever level necessary. Avis has mistreated my wife and I now on 2 separate occasions for no reason at all. imagine just trying wind down and go home but being treated like a criminal at your local grocery store that you visit weekly sometimes daily. I surely hope someone can make this right for me and oh yes I did pay more for the wine because Avis refused to change it. I asked for a manager he said he was the only one on duty and he’s not doing it then he walked away and continued to talk about me and my wife. I left there feeling completely humiliated by all three of those...
Read moreThis review is about an exceptional employee.
This Kroger is just two blocks from where I live and I've been shopping here and using this pharmacy for the last 4 years.
This is an older store and it shows. Sometimes it is under-staffed and checkout lines are long.
If you frequent a place enough, you notice which employees make the effort and which do not.
If you work in any capacity in which you have to deal with the public at large on a daily basis, you know from experience what it's like. You, and the public you interact with, have your good days and your bad days.
But every now and then, you encounter an employee who is exceptional, exceptional because good day or bad day, they're always at their best, a cut above the rest.
This employee specifically makes an effort, verbally or through gesture or action, to be sure that each customer they come in contact with is treated well and leaves feeling as such, because this employee is a quality soul, a human being that by nature enrichs others simply by being who they are.
The employee I speak of is Wendy.
Wendy usually works the 8 self-checkout stations by the floral area that handle the majority of the store's checkout activity.
From observations over time, I've noticed that the 8 self-checkout stations by the floral area is perhaps the most difficult and certainly can be the most hectic work duty given an employee.
The employee overseeing these stations must often be juggling several problems at once, from frustrated shoppers to checkout machine problems to a long line down the drink aisle at 5pm.
Some employees given this duty handle it reasonably well, some adequately, some just ok.
Wendy, however, has the ability to not only handle all of these various needs of the 8 self-checkout stations, but does so with an upbeat, personable style of interaction with customers that is consistently positive and uplifting.
The smile, the nod, the 'thank you', the 'have a great day', these are all part of Wendy's repetoire, and they flow from her as effortlessly as a leaf rides the wind.
So a customer sometimes exits actually feeling better than when they went in. Better, because of Wendy.
Today was Father's Day. My 4 grown children were coming by. So I went to Krogers right after it opened at 6am to grab a few things before they arrived.
And there was Windy, working the 8 self-checkout stations by the floral area. As usual, she greeted me with a smile and a hello.
Maybe all of this sounds a little sappy or seems layed on a little thick. But that's because I'm trying not only to make a point, but to get the manager's attention as well.
You have in Wendy a manager's dream, the most exceptional of employees, one that is a credit to themselves, to your store, and to Kroger Foods. GIVE HER A RAISE !
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Douglas M....
Read moreEmployees from top to bottom are disgustingly horrible in this store. The lady in front of me was having an issue with the blueberries that she was trying to purchase that were on sale. The cashier was going above and beyond to give her a hard time instead of just honoring the sale price that he knew it was for. He was making this lady jump through hoops and giving her a hard time. I had said to her that she's not crazy the app isn't working right because I'm going to have an issue with something in my transaction as well. The cashier got really rude and disrespectful because I was just trying to help the lady not feel so stressed out for holding up the line. He started telling me to mind my own business. Like excuse me. He was an older guy so he should absolutely know what customer service entails and what you are and are not allowed to do and act like when you are on the clock taking that company's money. He started yelling at me and told me "I'm not the one". WHO DOES THAT? I then told him I wanted a manager and as you can hear in the video he blatantly told me he was not getting one, turned off his light and walked away. I had to scream at the top of my lungs throughout the whole store and make a scene because this gentleman was sitting there being disrespectful to me when he should have just did his job. His job ultimately whether he is a cashier or a manager or works in the deli or whatever department throughout the entire store, the bottom line of your job is customer service. The store manager came over and barely let me say anything. As I was trying to explain it to him he interrupted me and cut me off which is very rude and disrespectful. So that right there lets me know that his employees act that way because he allows it. And I've already had a bad interaction with the store manager before so I wasn't expecting much from him anyway. I've went on to take the survey from my receipt and nothing ever came of it. So today before I even left the parking lot I googled customer service phone number for Kroger corporate and I called them and made a direct complaint. I expressed that I want someone to contact me immediately about this matter but I'm pretty sure...
