Decided to try this place for breakfast as it is decently close to home. Definitely feels like a bar / restaurant but there is plenty of seating and the atmosphere and vibes were pretty relaxing for the morning crowd.
I rate this as a 3 star not because anything was terrible but just because of all the little things.
When we arrived we had to wait for a table to be cleaned even though 90% of the restaurant was empty and clean. They use a very strong windex for the tables and the smell lingered for a bit.
There was only one waitress running the floor on a sunday morning. Which normally I would say is crazy for any breakfast spot on a sunday, but there was never a huge crowd while we were there. However, even with as few customers as there was our waitress, while wonderfully sweet and polite, was about as forgetful as they come. Brought us waters and menus, then asked if we wanted anything to drink, we ordered two coffees which took some time to arrive. Then she asked if we were ready to order, we were, but she had to go get her tablet first. Then about 10-15 minutes later she came back to take our order.
We had no silverware to stir our coffee, when the food came out she brought no silverware with it, I saw the people next to us have to go find silverware when their food came out. She did bring our silverware after a few minutes but I had to remind her about syrup a few times for our pancakes and french toast.
The food was good but its your basic breakfast fare. Nothing special about it. We ordered the griddle meals, which is your choice or pancake or french toast, two eggs, two meats. Decent portion but $14 each which feels very steep for breakfast, but I consider this a problem for most breakfast spots anyways. The black coffee was super weak and was $5 each, which is insane for black coffee. So for the quality of food and the coffee I felt it was severely over priced.
We were probably there over an hour as the pace there was just pretty slow overall. No issues with that as we understood our waitress was the only one running the floor, there weren’t many customers though, but we chilled and just enjoyed our morning, again waitress was very pleasant so really no hard feelings at all.
We did witness a few customers walk out, I assume based on just how long it took to be seen.
I’d honestly probably come back to try out the dinner as the menu looks good and other reviews seem to enjoy it. Hopefully the service time would be quicker as it seems thats the more popular hours and would be staffed more...
Read moreLet me first start out by saying I'm not one of those people who post bad reviews whenever 1 thing isn't right. With that being said here we go, Monday June 20th was my 3rd time visiting Tops Cafe Midway and unfortunately, (for them at least) my last. Now don't get me wrong it's a very brightly lit, clean and tidy eatery. However, on the day that we were there I was completely underwhelmed and unimppressed with the food and service, I came here with a friend and it was his first time. Upon arriving no one greeted or even acknowledged that we were standing at the front waiting to be seated, so for a few minutes we just stood around awkwardly waiting for someone to address us. Once we were finally seated we placed our orders, and were left snickering in awe and disbelief at the snide and short remarks being made by the server who had taken our order, I'd put her name down if I knew it but (surprised, surprise), she didn't introduce herself. When we finally got our food it was after an exceptionally long wait and after noticing that people that were seated after us had gotten their food 1st. The food itself was boring and lacked any real flavor, the same as my 1st 2 visits. My omelet had melted cheese that had already cooled and my biscuit was cold and hard, not to mention she brought out our food separately and not all together. My omelet was cold and had runny egg in the middle as if it was undercooked, my friend and I both ordered pancakes but for some odd reason his tasted horrible and mine did not, we were given tap water when asked for water and my orange was $5 only for it to be warm and bitter. Our server checked us a grand total of 2 times and we were there for an hour, at the end of the meal we didn't even finish I was left having to flag down a completely different server just to get it to go box for food I knew I wasn't going to eat. There was also another family that was there that didn't finish their food as well, they left a few plates untouched, paid for it and then left, one of the servers for whatever reason took pictures of this display. When paying for our meals I overheard the owner whose name I believe is Mindy, tell the server that they should've gotten her and that next time this happens they should be kicked out for "wasting food." Nonetheless, this review was about my visit and my experience. Again I don't like leaving bad reviews but after 3 times I think it's time for me to say something, I hope this helps some of you when you're looking for a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming American restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant's cozy and welcoming atmosphere immediately set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
One of the standout dishes I tried was the Migas, a classic Tex-Mex breakfast favorite. The combination of scrambled eggs, crispy tortilla strips, cheese, and flavorful spices was a true treat for the taste buds. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and flavors, leaving me craving more.
The Avocado Toast at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. The bread was toasted to perfection, providing a satisfying crunch, while the creamy avocado spread was generously topped with a sprinkle of sea salt and a drizzle of olive oil. It was a simple yet incredibly satisfying dish that showcased the restaurant's attention to detail.
For a refreshing and nutritious option, I highly recommend the Berry Power Bowl. Packed with a medley of fresh berries, crunchy granola, and a dollop of creamy yogurt, it was a delightful mix of sweet and tangy flavors. The vibrant colors and fresh ingredients made it a visually appealing dish that left me feeling energized and ready for the day ahead.
Lastly, the Savannah dish was a standout for its combination of flavors and presentation. The savory blend of tender grilled chicken, caramelized onions, and smoky barbecue sauce was a perfect match. The dish was beautifully presented with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables, making it a satisfying and well-rounded lunch option.
Aside from the delectable food, the service at this restaurant was exceptional. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience, making recommendations and accommodating special requests with a smile.
Overall, this American restaurant offers a fantastic breakfast and lunch experience. The Migas, Avocado Toast, Berry Power Bowl, and Savannah were all outstanding in their own right, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to quality and taste. Coupled with the warm and efficient service, it's a place I would highly recommend for anyone seeking a delightful start to their day or a satisfying...
