I said YES to my wedding dress at Rashawn Rose this past weekend!
I flew in from Denver to look for a dress with my mother for my wedding in October taking place in Naples, FL. I learned about Rashawn Rose by searching for authorized retailers on the Morilee website as I had my eye on a certain style number of dress I was dying to try in person. They were the closest authorized retailer to the Naples area. Upon calling, I learned they unfortunately did not have that specific style # available in store but had a very similar gown in stock, also Morilee, and provided me with the style # so I could get a look online to see if it would be something I'd be interested in trying which was extremely helpful! I booked my appointment, and flew down to Florida to start my search.
I let the store know I was going to be about 15 minutes late for my 2pm appointment as my plane landed a little closer to 1:45 and my parents hadn't made it to the airport on time due to traffic, and they were very understanding! Shaunette helped me, and she was like a best friend I hadn't seen in a few years but caught right back up with like we hadn't missed a day. I didn't have many long sleeve ballgown options in store to try besides the one Morilee I came to see, but we managed to find a few other silhouettes to try just to get an idea of some other options in the case the long sleeve Morilee didn't work out. Shaunette was very conscious of my budget and style I was looking for, never pushing me towards something I couldn't afford or wasn't interested in.
I tried on the Morilee and instantly fell in love, but tried on a few other dresses just to be sure, which only cemented my belief that the first long sleeve ballgown had to be the one. I had another dress on my mind that I had an appointment to see a few days later, so I let Shaunette know. She let me know she just wanted me to find THE dress, regardless of where I found it. I stopped at 5 other bridal shops in the Naples/Ft Myers area, checking out random dresses and trying on the ones I had my eye on online, but something kept taking me back to the dress at Rashawn Rose.
I called Shaunette the day before I was flying out to let her know I still had the dress on my mind and I asked her send me the video she took of me walking in the dress so I could compare this to the other one I was deciding between. She didn't get a chance to send me the video until the next morning, the day I was flying out, but just watching it once gave me all of the answers I needed. I called her up the day I was flying out and she was able to book me a same day appointment to try the dress on one last time and make sure it was the one. I made it in, tried it on again, and decided it was the one. Shaunette was super accommodating not only towards me, but both of my parents that came with me, and on our second trip where I purchased the dress, she even allowed my dad to bring in our elderly family dog (in a stroller) so he didn't have to sit out in the car with her while we finalized all of the dress business. After the dress was purchased, I was sent to a seamstress to get fitted, all in a days notice. I couldn't have asked for better service!!!!!!
Out of all of my experiences searching for a dress, Rashawn Rose had the best service and overall experience. I will always remember Shaunette's help in finding me the perfect dress. And a funny little side note we didn't notice until after the purchase, my engagement ring's center stone is moonstone, and the belt that came with the dress has moonstones on it. MEANT TO BE!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN SHAUNETTE & FAMILY, I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, if you’re looking to simply get a dress that you see in the store, this may be your place. Years ago, my sister bought her prom dress there and was fine. However, anything above and beyond that, I had a bad experience. I’m not one to just get up and write a review, I reconsidered this multiple times, but I would want someone to warn me. Upon my initial visit, my rep was very nice! My family and I were impressed with the level of service and how she was being helpful, little did we know that would all end once the sale was made. The rep convinced me to buy a dress that I didn’t like, because of all the customizations I could’ve done to make it into more of what I want. A little uneasy, I trusted her as she reassured me it could be done and relatively inexpensive. Problem 1, at the point of purchase, I was very unsure. Immediately after scanning my card, I asked her to cancel the transaction (especially since the order was not yet made), she told me all sales were final (5 seconds after transaction). Problem 2, she said if I paid 60%, I could order the dress to get it in the time I wanted, and pay the other 40% in a month. However, they did not order the dress until a month later when I paid the other 40%, so now the expected arrival of this dress that needed so much work will be arriving 1 month before the wedding. Problem 3, she said she would call me with a quote on the fabric and accessories for the dress. She DID call and tell me their belts would be $400, I agree that I told her I would search for that elsewhere. (Keep in mind, she suggested all the customizations would not be much, and alterations were simple so not extremely expensive). However, she also promised to reach out to a designer and get a quote on the fabric…not only did I not receive that quote, that designer also supposedly stop designing (but of course, I had the option to buy the expensive veil in the store to use- which was what the designer was supposed to mimic). Without much assistance, I continued my endless online search to find everything that was promised. A few months later, she called to see how my search was going, I sent her some samples of what I found to get her opinion, she told me her feedback, and promised to call me that Monday to see how my weekend search was, and assist me if I hadn’t found anything. That Monday has yet to come. About another month later, she emailed me to see if I found a veil, I assume looking for another sale. The quote on customizations of the dress from their seamstress (which I was told is so easy anyone could do it), was going to be upwards of $700, to add the extra tulle and applique. Yes, not quite how our initial conversation went. All in all, I was a very stressed out bride, sleepless nights wondering what this dress would end up looking like, and quickly realizing the additional costs did not make sense, I purchased a new dress elsewhere. Though not in my initial budget, I am definitely relieved. Of course, they are also not able to assist in selling my unworn, undelivered dress. Good luck!
This is in response to your comments: As you stated, yes, I was provided with the sales order AFTER I paid, at which time you refused to refund the card. Your offer was to give me the credit for bridesmaid dresses (which a-I would not spend that much and b-my dress wasn't even ordered at the time). I said the price would not be a problem, when you said it wouldn't cost much. Considering the price of the dress, I of course wouldn't expect the additions and alterations to cost just as much. Thank you anyways, and I also wish you a lifetime...
Read moreVisited Rashawn Rose Bridal and Prom on October 1 to shop for wedding dresses. This was 1 of 3 stores visited. Had a wonderful experience with Shaunette, one of the family members who owns/operates the business. I chose a MillaNova dress which I had tried on previously at a store in New Jersey. The cost of the dress was $1,000 less than the store in New Jersey. During the appointment Shaunette also mentioned several customizations and alterations which the seamstress affiliated with Rashawn Rose would be able to do to enhance the dress. As a budget friendly bride I decided to shop around before making the purchase. I found the same dress in my size, second hand, on StillWhite (an online marketplace for used and sample wedding dresses). I proceeded to purchase the dress and contacted Rashawn Rose to let them know and discuss next steps with the customizations, alterations and purchasing accessories through them. Shaunette was very accommodating and indicated she would contact me on Monday October 3. On October 3 I received a phonecall from her mother, Rose, who reprimanded me for wasting their time. Rose indicated that customizations and alterations is not a service this business offers and that brides typically spend upwards of $6,000 after an appointment at this store. Rose indicated that while her family members love what they do, this is solely a business for her. Even if I had purchased my dress from this store, I would not have met Rose's $6,000 threshold however, I would have spent approximately $1,000. This is based on the estimate for the alterations, customizations and headpiece.
Future brides, do with that information what you may.
Updated: If the phone-call Rose had made to me was in the same professional tone as this Google reply, I would have respected the decision to not assist me further and not taken the time to write a review. It was not. I am sure Shaunette would have been able to deliver the same message in a more professional way so she may be better suited for customer facing interactions. Also, several reviews mention the same phrase that I quoted “my daughters love what they do but for me it is just a business.” Unlikely that I made that up. Lastly, I came to Rashawn Rose Bridal because I had narrowed down to 3 dresses. I actually had a very lovely experience at my appointment at a very high end store in NJ. After trying on the 3 dresses with my mom and friends, we selected a gown and though $1,000 cheaper than New Jersey, was still not cheaper than the second hand dress. Had we selected one of the other dresses I may have very well purchased it at Rashawn as it was several hundred dollars under my budget. There was actually no need to be limited to a sample sale. Additionally, I did not need assistance determining size as I have modeled wedding dresses in the past and know my size.
At this point it seems like divine intervention that I did not purchase the dress here because I would rather have this horrible experience now, than get on Rose’s bad side closer to my wedding. I hope to never hear about this store or Rose again. It has been the only negative experience in my wedding planning journey. Best of luck with your business. Delete the reviews if you desire....
