The Teaching & Learning Complex at UC Davis may look impressive on the outside, but the academic rigor inside is surprisingly low. I personally know a student whose English skills are far below university level, yet he maintained a 3.9 GPA. The only reason he didn’t score even higher was due to the anger and frustration he experienced from being misunderstood and mistreated.
Instead of offering real support or understanding, some people seemed threatened by the fact that he was different — smart in his own way, but not what they expected. Rather than helping, they reported him, which only added to the stress.

The lecture halls are not slanted enough, so it can be hard to see the front of the room if you are short and behind several people. Many different classrooms, from large lecture halls, to medium sized lecture halls, to computer rooms for statistics discussions. There is also the writing center on the fourth floor which is really helpful to me. It is far from any parking lots on campus, so it can be a little inconvenient...

The brand is empty and has no real prestige — it’s a fallback option at best. Don’t let the “UC” name fool you; it’s a hollow label with no substance behind it.
