Today, me and wife went to academy to purchase shoes. Our experience was grim from the moment we entered the door, til we left. The door greeter didn't want to greet, much less crack a smile. We said hello, and tried to be friendly. All we got was a grunt. We went to shoe dept. Saw 3 different associates. 2 didn't care we were there, the other looked so fatigued about the job. She was friendly, but you could tell there was tension in the air. My question ā is, does management make their employees fell inspired to be at their job, or do they treat them like disposable doormats? Or, are the employees just there to grab a dollar, and forget that they are there to help service customers needs. I had surgery some years back on my left foot. As a general practice, I like to put the shoes on that look like something I'd like to wear. I generally lace them up, and walk in them a couple of minutes. just to make sure the fell ok on my bad foot. I found a pair I liked, and wanted to see how they felt. They all had a steel point in the lacings. Obviously a anti theft deterrent. I understand this. So, I asked the associate if she could assist me, and explained my situation. She said she didn't care, and shrugged, then walked away. how could I steal something with her standing right there assisting me. (If you can call it that). I boxed the shoes up, put them back on the shelf. I looked at my wife and we both had the same feeling. Let's just go somewhere else that cares about our needs. By the way, the young foreign girl had already walked away, and she didn't even give us a second thought. I'll never spend another dollar there. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have not been to Academy since last spring because of poor service. I just went online ordered a pair of shoes stated I could pick up at the store within the hour. I received a call from the store that they didnāt have my item and that it would be best if I canceled my order. That my money hadnāt been taken out of my account. I tried to cancel online but it kept freezing up. I called the corporate customer service waited on hold for over 30 minutes and then they cut my call off. I then called the Decatur store back and ask for a manager. The girl that answered said ā Iām a managerā she was short and rude with me . Said they would cancel my order and I would get a email or text when it was taken care of. I did receive it and it stated my money would not be back in my bank account until 7 business days. So isnāt that great!! Academy ruins a Christmas present for my daughter. And has not a second thought or concern for me . I tried to do the right thing order from home social distance for everyoneās safety and this is the thanks I get. I paid for an item last spring $ 700 and basically the same thing happened only difference is they didnāt have my purchased item so I had to buy a $100 higher item of the same kind. I guess you make so much money that I make no difference. So I am sure I wonāt be missed. But very poor service and no compassion for taking someoneās money at Christmas.. Merry Christmas Academy...

We found a box that was as a 5.5 which is the size we needed, but the box only had one cleat. I found a worker to see if maybe the other cleat was in then back. She told me no, but she would check. She was gone a few minutes and came back to inform me no it wasnāt back there. She said this happens sometimes bc parents let there children play in the boxes and just put them wherever. Me and my son went through the boxes with no luck of finding the other cleat. I took the box with the one cleat up to checkout and asked if they could possibly order me another set of cleats and I would come pick them up when they came in. She told me no they donāt do that Iād have to order them on my own. Then asked me if wanted to return the box I had. I had to explain to her I didnāt purchase them, I WANTED to purchase them but couldnāt bc they both were not there. She just said ok.
