I have mixed reviews on this theater. The workers are very polite and the food is usually very good. I do feel scammed however by the Tuesday $5 night. We have gone four times and every time it cost $8 a ticket because we are told there is a "premium" for the theatre that our movie is in because there is such demand they have to use the largest theater. Funny how I always pick the movie that is the "premium" movie. This is unethical. I complained tonight because my elderly parents who could go during the day for $7 came with us to $5 Tuesday and had to pay $8. I usually invite alot of family members to meet us there and I am tired of getting embarrassed when they are also scammed for $8 instead of the advertised $5. I have tried to call to find out which movie is the "premium" movie that week since I have been told it is usually the most popular movie but no one answers the phone and if I stop by no one happens to know..... Tonight we were in theater number 1 which is the largest theater per the staff and the reason for the $3 surcharge(because the demand was very high) . The room was huge but 90% of the seats were empty - again a scam. Very disappointing and bad business. I'll take my business elsewhere... Also the sound was so loud that the seats were shaking and although I know I was not the only one complaining it took a long time to get the sound turned down to a reasonable level (people had their hands on their ears). By the end of the movie the theater was freezing. So maybe they turned off the heat when they turned down the sound??? Overall this was a very bad experience. The nachos were excellent and the seats are comfortable but we will go elsewhere in the future. Also by the way so not go to any movies in theatre 9 - it smells like mold and mildew since the 2016 flood and my asthma is off the charts every time I have to see a movie in this theatre. I have complained for over a year about theater 9but so far they have not improved the...
Read moreThe location at Jones Creek and George O’Neal just underwent a remodel. The renovation looks pretty good. This was my first time visiting the theater since the remodel.
It’s cozy. Getting our tickets was simple enough and we were directed straight to our theater after choosing our seats. I also need to note that the price was much cheaper than at AMC. Two tickets cost us $20.00.
Compared to larger chains like AMC, our theater was very small, but there was something appealing about it. I liked the coziness. I liked that there were only a small number of people. We also enjoyed some of the perks that we normally enjoy at some more mainstream theaters. The theater seating was nice. We were able to recline and get comfy as we watched the movie. There were also food trays attached, which were really convenient.
The experience would have have warranted another visit if not for the sound transfer from other theater rooms. At low points during the movie, we could hear other movies playing quite loudly. That was annoying. Also, the sound system leaves a lot to be desired. I really missed the Dolby Digital Surround Sound that I am accustomed to at AMC. That was a bit of a letdown.
Because of this, I think I will continue to patronize AMC. I know they are more expensive, but as the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for.”
Overall, Celebrity Theaters provided a pretty decent experience, but it’s not worth...
Read moreNote: See UPDATE below. | Went to this theatre for the Preview of the new 007 film. It was convenient. But nothing was done to tune things up for a premiere - the (digital) projection was slightly dim, a piece of overhead curtain was hanging down & casting a shadow on the upper right corner of the screen in one of the larger main auditoria (like a large black dust particle in the projector gate), the wall sconces (lights) were too bright during the show, the sound was thin even tho' advertised as Dolby Digital EX (& probably no subwoofer speaker(s)), and the theater smelled a bit like the inside of a vacuum cleaner bag - not terrible, but distinct. The walkway carpets are dirty & badly worn. The restroom was clean & the high school kids who seem to run the place were friendly. Easy parking. This theater is rapidly becoming one of the Dollar movie theatres that were around for awhile. Prices are slightly less than market, but only 50¢ to a $1 cheaper than the larger, nicer, better equip'd theaters nearby. Hadn't been there since the partial stadium remodel & hoped for better; was disappointed.
UPDATE: The theater has remodeled & refurbed with less dense lazy-boy seating that is nice. But the projection/sound tech deficiencies persist. The small auditoria are almost like Home Theater, very small and un'special. For kids it's probably OK. For movie-film enthusiasts, this is a Tier 2 or 3...
