Phở 97 — Restaurant in Louisiana

UPDATE: As promised, I came with my family to eat at the restaurant. A few things:

The space is very large and comfortably lit. Some people in other reviews complained the 'cavernous space' prevents the 'aesthetic vision' from coming together and this is the biggest load of pretentious hogwash I've seen yet. The space is great. In fact my only complaint is other customers being loud and obnoxious, through no fault of the restaurant, and the space makes it bearable.

Fishballs are made of fish paste. I felt everyone should know this. My sister ordered the seafood udon soup and the fishballs are premium. A lot of other reviews don't seem to have any experience with authentic Asian food much less Vietnamese food and that lack of experience or appreciation really unfairly discolors this restaurant. For example, if you're complaining your food is "bland" make yourself aware that the cultural expectation is for you to season your food to taste. This is commonly the case for all Southeast Asian cuisine and why all those condiments are on your table or in your bag.

The service is stellar. We were visited regularly by the waiters but not excessively. They were polite and respectful, overall very patient. Can't imagine why their service gets such low ratings except, again, maybe some cultural disparity in expectations of what waitstaff is there for. Your food comes as it's prepared and it's prepared as you order it. Not everything is going to come out simultaneously because not everything takes the same amount of time to prepare. Your food will be piping hot and fresh and then your server shouldn't be interrupting you every five minutes and probably won't until a certain amount of time has elapsed or your plates are empty and put aside. These are good things, not bad ones.

Essentially, if you LIKE Vietnamese food or want to experience GREAT Vietnamese food and not hyper-Americanized food, this place is great.

The food is amazing, fresh, delicious, and authentic. Almost every condiment you could want is available and anything else you could ask for (We're Thai and we like to add sugar, garlic oil, and fish sauce to our foods), you can ask for. The quantities are extremely generous.

This will EASILY be our go-to as long as the quality remains as it is.

We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 Pink Lychee drinks, and 3 different soups. All spectacular. The seafood especially the crab was super generous and the oxtail in the house special was sinfully tender.

I got this as delivery but I plan to go eat at the restaurant sometime this weekend and will update accordingly.

I am not super picky but I've eaten a lot of Vietnamese home cooking and at restaurants in and around BR. Even given that my food arrived piping hot (but I only got a chance to eat it when it was cold because I was lazy and busy feeding my child) let me just say this was the best pho and fresh spring rolls I have probably ever eaten in any restaurant.

The portions were fantastic. Everything was fresh. Sides were mindfully included and consistent, including condiments. I ended up so stuffed on pho that I saved the spring rolls for upwards of 8 hours and NOT ONLY had they not fallen apart, but they weren't hard. They were just delicious, on their own, untouched.

I hope the quality remains consistent and the restaurant experience is equally good, but even my delivery experience was stellar.

Also it wasn't super cheap but the pricing was about par or less than other Vietnamese cuisine for the amount and...

Gia đình tôi đã ghé qua Phở 97 khi đang trên đường từ Baton Rouge đến Mississippi trong kỳ nghỉ lễ. Tôi mang theo chó hỗ trợ của mình, một phần quan trọng trong cuộc sống vì tôi bị mù vào ban đêm và mắc bệnh thận. Chó này vẫn đang trong quá trình huấn luyện, và tôi đã gọi điện trước để xác nhận rằng có thể mang chú theo. Chủ quán rất lịch sự và đồng ý với điều kiện chúng tôi ngồi ở khu vực xa các khách hàng khác.

Khi đến nơi, chúng tôi tuân thủ yêu cầu và ngồi gần cửa ra vào, mặc dù trời rất lạnh vì đang là tháng Mười Hai. Tuy nhiên, trải nghiệm nhà vệ sinh khiến tôi rất thất vọng. Nhà vệ sinh không sạch sẽ, bồn cầu trong phòng dành cho người khuyết tật không xả nước được và tay cầm thì bị hỏng. Dù vậy, tôi cố gắng giữ tinh thần lạc quan và quay lại bàn để tiếp tục dùng bữa.

Chúng tôi gọi món phở số 1 và một tô phở tái nạm. Nước dùng khá ngon, nhưng sợi phở bị dính lại với nhau, làm giảm chất lượng món ăn. Khoảng 10 phút sau, một bác lớn tuổi, có vẻ là nhân viên, tiếp cận và nhẹ nhàng đề nghị chúng tôi để chó hỗ trợ ở trong xe. Tôi lịch sự giải thích bằng tiếng Việt rằng tôi đã gọi trước, được chấp thuận và chó là chó hỗ trợ rất cần thiết cho tình trạng sức khỏe của tôi. Sau khi hiểu rõ hơn tình hình, bác ấy tỏ ra thông cảm và trấn an rằng chúng tôi có thể tiếp tục ở lại, nhưng cũng nói rằng một số khách hàng đã phàn nàn.

Trong bữa ăn, chó đã cố gắng hướng dẫn tôi vào nhà vệ sinh theo cách được huấn luyện. Tuy nhiên, vì điều kiện nhà vệ sinh không phù hợp, chồng tôi đã quyết định đưa chó hỗ trợ ra xe để tránh thêm bất tiện. Tôi ngồi đợi trong xe trong khi anh ấy thaanh toán và giúp tôi ký hóa đơn.

Chồng tôi, một luật sư chuyên về quyền dân sự, rất thất vọng với cách tình huống được xử lý. Anh ấy liên tục bày tỏ sự không hài lòng khi quyền lợi của tôi, một người khuyết tật, không được tôn trọng trong suốt bữa ăn. Anh cảm thấy rằng nhà hàng đã có sự thiên vị đối với việc có mặt của chú chó hỗ trợ, mặc dù điều đó đã được pháp luật bảo vệ. Anh nhấn mạnh rằng những phàn nàn của các khách hàng khác không nên lấn át các quyền hợp pháp theo quy định của luật liên bang, và thật đáng tiếc khi một cơ sở kinh doanh lại không tuân thủ đầy đủ những quyền lợi này.

Lưu ý về Quyền Lợi Pháp Lý Liên Quan Đến Chó Hỗ Trợ tại Baton Rouge: Theo Đạo luật Người Khuyết Tật Hoa Kỳ (ADA), các cơ sở kinh doanh, bao gồm cả nhà hàng, phải cho phép các cá nhân khuyết tật mang chó hỗ trợ vào tất cả các khu vực mà khách hàng thông thường được phép vào. Quy định này áp dụng trên toàn Baton Rouge và Hoa Kỳ. Chó hỗ trợ được huấn luyện để thực hiện các nhiệm vụ cụ thể cho người khuyết tật, và các cơ sở kinh doanh không được từ chối phục vụ hay hạn chế dựa trên phàn nàn từ các khách hàng khác. Chó hỗ trợ không bắt buộc phải mặc áo ghi chú hoặc mang theo giấy tờ chứng nhận.

Mặc dù tôi để lại 18% tiền tip để thể hiện sự tôn trọng với nhân viên và ủng hộ một doanh nghiệp người Việt, nhưng trải nghiệm tổng thể khiến chúng tôi cảm thấy không được chào đón. Tôi hy vọng Phở 97 sẽ nghiêm túc tiếp nhận ý kiến này, không chỉ để tuân thủ pháp luật mà còn tạo ra một môi trường thân thiện và tôn trọng hơn cho tất...

This definitely is a cool ambience with the neon decor in overhead lighting brings in a modern look we were definitely drawn back by the type of seats that were in the Tucktaway room. They definitely should Have a weight capacity sign up. Our server was very distant but yet very knowledgeable. They seem very spaced out at times I would suggest that they train their service to pay more attention to detail. I had to request multiple times for a drink refill, and we were actually one of three couples that were in the place so they weren’t busy.
