Ahh yes, Harvard Gulch also known as (aka) "The gulch". The perfectly square tee box turf, rolling fairways, deceiving greens, and of course the actual Gulch. One might turn their head when they first drive by the Gulch, but that One might also think the earth is flat.
Upon arrival you will exit your vehicle and observe the 2-story Pro-Shop/Maintenance facility cuddling next to the 7-story chimney that I have had no luck in finding the history behind. Thing adds FLARE. "Thing" being the chimney. After inspection of the facilities you will walk the sturdy, well-built bridge overlooking Marios Garden. Ask me who Mario is and I will tell you that I am not sure yet but I will find out soon because I golf there A LOT. Keep going, continue on the bridge and walk past the pro shop doors to the corner of the deck. Take a look at your surroundings and then bask in all the glory that the Gulch has to offer. Go back to the pro-shop, grab a couple $1 used ProV's before touching that door. Enter the door. Not only will you be greeted with open arms but you will also be asked to open your wallet. $10 bucks. Grab a gatorade or coozie before you ring that thing through. You shouldn't leave that pro shop without spending $15, round included. Be good to them. Alas, you are ready to chip and putt at the world's finest. Let me know if you have questions. Full course, hole-by-hole, preview is in the...
Read moreThe course is good. It's well-maintained and despite being on the shorter end (even for a par 3), provides plenty of fun holes to play. The downside to this course is the staff. They don't monitor the course very closely, so sometimes in the evening you can see a group playing holes 2-8 over and over, cutting in front of other groups and holding up the pace of play. Then there's an older gentleman who works here who, for some unfathomable reason, seems obsessed with sending groups out ahead of their tee time... as if that was going to speed up the pace of play or get more people onto the course in a day. Today I showed up 10 minutes early for my tee time, and at check-in he told me I should have been there 15 minutes early because he already sent everyone else out. Umm... excuse me? Don't get me wrong, checking in earlier is better (though another time I came here over 30 minutes early this same guy was confused, and possibly a little annoyed, by how early I was), but 10 minutes is plenty of time to check in and get ready to tee off at this little course. And frankly, when I reserve a tee time, that's the time I want to start at, not earlier. I want a few minutes to warm up and say hi to the people I'll be playing with. So yeah, maybe let's...
Read moreThis is an AWESOME little Denver hidden gem for the beginner golfer and "club PRO" alike. The cost is very reasonable & the ironic location of the course in the very center of the city makes it a true rarity that you must play to fully appreciate! The guys in the clubhouse were very friendly and knowledgeable about choosing the correct (3) clubs. This is an absolutely amazing location to host a "business casual" type of meeting or interview & also has tremendous value for the skilled golf pro trying to critique & sharpen up on his "short-game." This is the ideal place for a few "wise-guy friends" to have a weekly ritual/ recreational league for white & blue collar business professionals alike. Courses like these are where narratives like "the Legend of...
