Air Lanes Bowling Center — Local services in Des Moines

We called on Friday to ask about the Cosmic Bowling on Saturday and to find out if they have the kid ramps for the bowling balls. They confirmed that the cosmic bowling is from 1-5 on Saturdays and that it’s all very kid friendly. We showed up just after 1pm on Saturday and there was an adult league going on (they did not tell us this over the phone) so no lanes were open, it was going to be a 20-30 minute wait, and they said the cosmic bowling didn’t start until 3-3:30 when the league was over (which they definitely didn’t tell us over the phone). We also brought some snacks for my kids because they have Celiac Disease and have to be very careful with any gluten/cross contamination. The worker was extremely rude about it. I understand they don’t allow outside food/drinks and I’m happy to respect that typically, but with CD we have to be extra cautious. They said the nachos and popcorn are fine, but with canned nacho cheese and unknown butter/flavors used on the popcorn they can’t guarantee it’s all completely GF. We have actually gone here a few times and the last time(tonight) will be the last time. We normally go for a couple hours and have a good time. Spend well over $300 as a group each time as well between food bar and games. Tonight was a bad experience. The bartender took the drivers license of a person in our group and refused to give it back. Claimed that it was a fake and it was being confiscated. After the cops were called she decided to look up drivers licenses for that state (out of state license not an Iowa one) and saw that despite literally 12 people saying that it was not a fake, that it was indeed a real one. The staff was very rude about the whole ordeal and refused to talk about what the issue was or to even listen to anyone; even other patrons at the establishment who were not a part of our group. We will be choosing another bowling alley to spend our money at for sure. They need to really restaff the whole place and do some extensive training with their managers...

The bowling was fine. There was two girls working behind the counter one was very nice. The other had to be one of the most rude people that I have ever dealt with when taking my food order she literally grunted and walked over to the register as I was talking as apparently I was ordering to much for her to remember. Then walks back to me and just looks at me. I had to ask ok where did ya leave off. When she then told me it was over $50 for very few things I said hang on please let me talk to my girl we may do something else. When I returned with a different order she was cussing in the girls ear that was now going to help me as they were upset that they had to void my order and were proceeding to just put the same order back in before I asked what was wrong and told her you don't have to enter that back in we are getting something else.
