I decided last minute to go on an airboat tour after reading positive reviews but was a bit disappointed when I called and they wanted 60$ which was nearly $40 more than the prices I had been looking at the night before but since it was the day of I guess the price was higher.. I got to the parking lot and had to use the toilet but there wasn't even a porta potty available..with so many tours and money involved one would think at least a porta potty would be made available but I was instructed to go in the parking lot behind bushes before the tour started since I wouldn't be able to use the bathroom on the boat for an hour.. the first part was interesting as the guide told us about the everglades and showed us sawgrass before a bird named Jackie landed on the guide's shoulder and proceeded to follow us on the boat for the rest of the tour. We all got to take pictures with Jackie as she fed from our hands so that was cool but there wasn't much of interest throughout the rest of the tour.. we were told to watch the trees for alligators but didn't see any. Another male bird joined Jackie on the boat. The guide was interesting and funny. He eventually pointed out two small female alligators to us that hang around in the area waiting to get fed. We stopped and took pictures with one of them but the other was too shy and hid under the water. That was the gist of the tour and nothing else really happened. I think the price was about twice as steep as it should have been. I understand that wildlife sightings can't be guaranteed but at least put a porta potty on site so guests can relieve...
Read moreThis is the way to go if you’re booking an airboat tour! It was easy and quick to get there from Miami.
A lot of the airboat tours around the general vicinity had restaurants and shops attached to them, and seemed a little kitschy. This one is literally just a couple boats pulled up behind some power-plant looking setup that is unrelated. That’s all you need to go on an airboat tour :) if you want souvenirs go get some cooler and cheaper ones than the kitschy locations offer by going up the way to Everglades National Park!
My husband and I chose the 8AM time slot on a Monday for a group tour, but it turned into a private one since no one else showed up at such an off-time (We learned it was better to see more gator movement in the early afternoon).
Our Captain William was very kind and extremely knowledgeable about the history and environment of the Everglades. You could tell he really respected the gators and he was definitely a Disney princess with all the wild (but extremely intelligent) crows/birds that accompanied us on the tour. All of our questions were answered in detail.
We got to spend time around and see several gators and got to know more about them. We even spotted some baby alligators and they were adorable and it’s hard to imagine they grow up into something so tough!
We would definitely take this tour again and can recommend it to...

In my limited experience, I think you need to ask yourself what you're really looking for in an Airboat ride. How much will it cost and how many people will you be with. I wanted something more personal and more private. I didn't want to be with 15 other people.
Everglades Airboat Expeditions, while not as fancy or extravagant as a few other places within the area; it's a no bs airboat ride. Their boats are max 7 people. You get 1 on 1 with the tour guides and most importantly, you can learn a lot and have conversations with them.
There is no main building, there's no bathroom, restaurant, or gift shop. You arrive at your scheduled time and you hop on your boat and go.
Jack was awesome, water was provided in the boats, and he took us for a beautiful ride around the mud canals. We saw lots of birds and fishes, and a good number of alligators. We were also asked to help grab water bottles left floating in the canals of help push the boat off to clear the trees if you get too close after looking at an alligator. Now some people may not like that. But I definitely enjoy it when you as a rider can get involved...
