I've been with Tucker as a otr regional van driver for 3+ years now so it's about time I leave a review. I've been driving since 2012, quit 3 other companies for various reasons so my review does come with a little experience. Obviously as a current employee I'm not going to say what I dislike about the company (not to much) but I'll tell you what I do like about being a driver here. I get home every weekend, I can choose to be home every Friday or if I want to work Saturdays (i often do), I let my dispatch know early in the week and they plan me out for Saturdays, which normally adds up to 2,500-3,000 respectively, which is what many of us are looking for in a 5-6 day period. I could be making more at a company that doesn't give as much hometime but I do enjoy my life outside of the truck so regular hometime works well for me. The office folks here are decent people for the most part, I've had no serious issues or complaints with any of them. They answer the phone in a timely manner compared to most other companies I've worked for and scramble to solve issues that arise in a timely manner also. You're not going to just be sitting there without your wheels turning waiting very often if you're a productive driver. Even the safety folks here from the bottom to the top are decent folks, I actually enjoy a conversation with the safety folks and dispatch occasionally and it's nice having office personnel that don't treat you like a robot (as much as we can expect as drivers in the industry). They will work with you on pay if your getting shafted on a bad load, detention or get jammed up in any way, I don't feel as though I have to fight hard to point out certain situations, they definitely will take care of your pay when due to circumstances outside of your control as a company driver. The orientation process is easy, they get you a rental car, you come out to their city, they put you up in a room and you spend 2-3 days (that you get paid for) in a small batch, normal orientation class and then they turn you lose in a truck that's in decent repair. Yes, the equipment here is decent and repairs are done promptly as needed on both tractors and trailers. It's up to you to report faulty equipment and not pass the buck, just tell them something is wrong and they'll send out someone to fix it, I really like that policy as it doesn't jam you up and gets repairs done. I did have one big personal issue here in the beginning and I'll tell you what, they worked with me on that issue and I'm thankful for that, things could have turned out much worse for me for a short spell if they didn't. So all in all, from one driver to another, it's a decent company to work for and as long as the raises come in, I can definitely picture myself staying here for a few years to come until I eventually grow tired of otr all together. Oh, they do have local driving positions in some areas but not mine currently, who knows, maybe in the future. If you've been working for a mega fleet for a couple years and ready to try something else, ima tell you that Tucker is definitely better than what you are used to, much better and you should make the move. Mention (write in) Karl Wolf as the guy who talked you into coming and I'll split the recruiting bonus with ya, let's call it a referral bonus for both of us! (Update 09/06/25 and still here, keep those hire on bonuses working for both of us!) See ya drivers out on the road, be good to...
Read moreI hauled dry van for these guys the truck had so many sensors on it and a outer facing Camara it was more like holding the steering wheel for a computer, took some time but I got used to it didn't like it didn't feel safe with it specially when the sensors thought I was going over the line and pulled the steering wheel while I was going around a curve in the snow. Then they like to steal from the driver you are not being paid by the hour you are being paid by the mile , so they add a bunch of trailer shuttles on to your trip, so you have to clean out every empty trailer before you drop it run it down the road a few miles drop it go back pick up another clean it out and do it all over again and only get paid the miles not short trip pay cause they add it on to a load. I paid $2000 pet deposit so I could have my two dogs on the truck with me they told me like they said to another driver In another review you get it back if you return the truck in same condition, well I got none of my 2000. I gave them my two weeks notice I was going to another company that was actually OTR not regional I was trying to leave on good terms but as soon as I gave them my two weeks notice Tuckers true colors showed from...
Read moreI had been with tucker for a year and a half before unfortunately hurting my shoulder on the job. Everyone worked with me through the whole work comp process and kept me in the loop about how things were going to go during the time just as much as I kept them in the loop about appointments and everything on my end. Unfortunately that injury led to an underlying issue surfacing that required me to have surgery in order to be 100%. I did run out of fmla and had to pay ways with the company currently but plan on coming back as soon as healed. They have made me feel like I was part of the family from day one and even since we lasted ways I have still felt like part of the family in every conversation I've had with them. For that I am grateful and can not wait to return to the family. They have by far exceeded every expectation and gone out of their way to make sure I'm happy. Best company I have ever worked for and can't wait to return. Thank you tucker family...
