My experiences with multiple att store employees has been horrible customer service. The two stores in redding california and four of their employees looked at my iphone 12 that had displayed the SOS in upper right corner after my Apple April 23 IOS download took place and could not diagnose the problem for me correctly. They all came back with the same solution of just scraping my phone and signing up for a new 2 year contract with an $800 trade in credit for my phone. Their second option for me was to repair the phone at an authorized Apple repair place which was Geek Squad inside Best Buy. After hearing this I decided to pay Geek Squad for the diagnosis. I was told by the pro technicians at Geek Squad the reason for my phone being broken was probably due to a corrupt IOS download that had also done the same thing to their lead repair techs phone. I was believing all this information until they came back out and told me sorry your antennae is broken. They said they would be happy to fix my phone for $530. I was in shock at the price i was quoted and left paying the $40 for their 20 minute session with my phone. My next option was to try and repair the phone myself so i went to amazon and found a new antennae for $8 with all the tools and supplies to do this repair. At this point i had nothing to lose because att employees assured me that my phoneās trade in of $800 would still be honored no matter what condition my phone was in.
I luckily had my iphone 8 as a backup phone so i held off on my repair and left calif to go to hibbing minnesota for the summer. I took my 12 with me.
I was here in minnesota and now my iphone 8 goes into a NO SERVICE and Iām right back at the att stores in a small town here called Hermantown. The rep there replaced my sim card and then told me that my phone was broken and he could not help me. I stopped at another att store up the road and the rep there also tried a new sim card and was able to download the latest update on her wifi and said that would fix my phone. I had to leave so she instructed me to download the update at home and this would fix my problem. So i get home and it was not able to finish the download so I called the ATT customer service number. I waited almost 1/2 hour for someone to answer the phone and the person who answered told me after going back and forth for almost 20 minutes that ATT was repairing a cell tower in my Hibbing neighborhood and that the band width for all the customers was only so large so only a selected few were able to get this signal. My boyfriends phone was still at 4 bars on his iphone 8 at this same time. He told me to try for the next two days and that my service would be restored. Two days went by then a week still NO S ERVICE. Iā m totally frustrated with ATT now at this point. I decided I would go to the ATT store here in Hibbing MN to take my iphone 8 in for a check. I walk into the store and one rep is all they had on staff and two customers ahead of me. Gal there tells me to come back tomorrow cause her second employee gone and was having a baby. Ok. So I go back the next day and the same gal sees me and i had both of my phones with me. Before i even had a chance to explain my iphone 8ās problem she picked up my 12 and looked at it and had it fixed in less than two minutes!!!!!!! She smiles at me and says here you go I fixed it. At this point to my amazement I said what did you do?? She said it was simple I installed an Esim and the SOS was resolved!!!! I told her how many hands had touched my phone and she politely said well there is alot of āmoney grabbingā going on in this world and Iām happy to help you. The ATT Rep, Jon, was really terrific! He immediately said, āno problemā, set us up at a table, and had my old phoneās content loaded onto the 11 in a few minutes. I appreciate that he took the time to patiently answer my questions about the process (no eye-rolling), then gave me a good introduction to my new phone. He helped me equip the phone with a case, screen protector, and ādongleā that met my needs, then did a quick review of my ATT account and ended-up saving me $$$ when he learned Iām eligible for the ATT Military discount. Overall, an Excellent in-store experience. Having Reps like Jon on the āfront-lineā of customer service is the best thing any company can do, especially in a competitive business that sells technical product to a diverse demographic. We were approached by Shania who took us directly to a workstation and even asked if I preferred a low chair or a high chair. Who does that? Shania does. Not being completely phone savvy, I had so many questions for her which she fielded quickly and without making me feel stupid. She is very personable and knowledgeable which made it easier to make the proper decisions for us. We were there late so there was not time to download info from my old phone. We thought we could figure it out, so we left. Shania's parting words were "I'll be in town until 9 so if you run into any problems, text me". Inevitably, we did have issues, so we texted her at 9:15. Not only did she respond, but she also volunteered to come to the house and get everything done properly.
