Pawn America — Local services in Duluth

I've been bringing my Knives and Silver/Gold to pawn America in Duluth for quite a few months now. They have always been fair with me and given me fair prices and SPOT price for my premium silver rounds. So... Today I send my mother with Silver and Gold (1 gr Gold, 17 Premium Silver 1 oz rounds, 10 40% half dollars, and 6 90% quarters) to stop and sell for me. Well.. Mr "been here for 10 years and worked EVERY week 40 hours" Mario now gives my mother 2.50$ below spot for the premium silver. 85$ for the gram of Premium Gold. And a sad sad price for the 40 and 90% silver. So I got on the phone and talked to Mario (my mother handed the phone to.him) and I explained that they always give me atbleast spot or within 50 cents of it. Thats when he said he's worked there for 10 years EVERY WEEK 40 HOURS and never paid spot. Wellll.. I have receipts that differ from his word. I will not be back in there again. Which is sad because I've done quite a bit of business with this business. And of course he gets an attitude right away on the phone. All I was asking was why he was paying my mother crap prices when I always get spot price. Like I had said in the beginning of this post.. I had always GOOD words about this establishment. Always treated me REALLY GOOD when I was at the store.. very sad he seen a opportunity to take advantage of my mother because I wasn't there. But.. Ill take my business elsewhere. Everyone be aware of MARIO and this Pawn America in general. (Now I can't say bad things or.. negative things about the other employees I've worked with in the past. Like I said I've always been treated well before this. Lost alot of $ on this transaction).... Edit I changed my review from a 1 star to a 3 star. Pawn America should be Thankful for there employee Brandon! He has done 5 🌟 service a few times!! Brandon's attitude and service does not go unnoticed or unappreciated!! I had alot of items and never once rushed me (any of the 3 or 4 times I've been in).. So.. Thank you Brandon. Appreciate you! Brandon gets a 5 star...

Sam K. Was rude per usual, made me get to the back of the line because the person helping me wasn't sure how to go about my situation involving my pawned items. I came to pick up my pawned items before the "30 day hold for all sales" excuse me? I pawned I did not sell nor do I know how they ended up being put in the system as a buy when I clearly said I wanted to pawn and get back my items. Sam was however kind enough to help me carry the items to my vehicle. He also doesn't listen to the customer, I clearly stated that they were put in the system as buys and that when I returned to unpawn my items they wouldn't release them to me because of their own mistake inputting wrong information along with the wrong customer account. Hmmm. Seems legit right? Not really. I'm very dissatisfied with the service I received all the way around with this transaction. Unfortunately though, this was someone else's mistake, not Sam's, he did get me my items back and for that I give him 5 stars for being able to fix 2 screw ups in a single pawn transaction....

They tried to tell me my Diamond ring is fake after doing an acid test so I brought it to kay jewelers and they tested it for authenticity because I was about to go file a lawsuit with zales for selling a fake ring to me if that really was the case, but they said it’s coming up Diamond and sapphire, they also told me this pawn shop is super sketchy and lies when they don’t want to pay what it’s worth which is probably why they tried to claim it was fake. The 2 wonderful kay jewelers workers helping me recommended security jewelers so if anyone else has this problem try them instead.

I’m in the process of moving so the authenticity papers are buried I was told I didn’t need them, or I would have called zales and asked for my profile information sent over so I didn’t have to unpack to find them and brought them with, I wasn’t allowed to come back with them though. Also an acid test apparently is damaging to the jewelry so it would have been nice to been told that before they went and did...
