Normally I wouldn't leave a bad review, cause I learned if you have nothing nice to say, not saying anything is better. But I went in to Biggers Mazda this past week looking into purchasing a 2018 CX-5. The salesman Tom has been with the company for almost 2 years and had to call Franko and David to answer questions about Mazda's and the CX-5 this should have been my first clue to how things would unravel.
I went home talk with my wife about the CX-5 and she followed up with Tom via email about options we wanted on the CX-5 and if they had any in stock and what the mileage and price of those would be and ask for him to send her the information. She never heard back from him so she called him. He read her email while on the phone with her and still failed to provide the details that were being requested. My wife reached out to the general manager too but come Friday night didn't hear back. After my wife asked for another Sales person - Tom was able to finally answer her questions. We went in there Sat. afternoon and they had 2 CX-5 for us to look at. Both vehicles were loaners one with almost 7k in mileage and the other with 20k in mileage. My wife asked if there was any wiggle room to get the price down to 30k. Tom said no and then got Ron the GM to come out and also say NO. Once Ron came out to talk to us he began bullying us and used a tone that was condescending and disrespectful. He tried to threaten that we would never find a better deal than what he was offering us. And if we did get we would have to give up options. We told them we saw a CX-5 on another dealers website for $30k. They said it probably doesn't have all the options we want and it's pre-owned certified. We gladly walked out.
Later that night - we went to the Mazda dealership in Elmhurst. They sold us a NEW - 2018 CX-5 GT with 80 miles on it and ALL of the options for 31k. RON WAS WRONG!!!! Sure it wasn't pre-owned certified but that's cause it was brand new. The kicker was that Taylor (our salesman at Wilken's) has only been with the company for a year and knows infinitely more about the product than Tom with significant less time on the job. He could answer all questions without needing a wingman or baby sitter. Additionally, we walked into the beautiful show room at Wilken's Mazda at 5:30pm and walked out with a new car just before 7pm.
Don't go to Biggers in Elgin - if you are in the market for a Mazda....go to Wilken's Mazda in Elmhurst and...
Read moreMy wife and I purchased a car from here less than a month ago. By law in IL, there is a 15 day warranty when purchasing a used car. Within 3 days of owning the car, the brake warning light and traction warning light turned on. We called and were told to bring the car in the next day to have it looked at. The next morning, the car would not start. We had to pay to have it towed to Biggers Mazda. Over the next few days, they ran tests on the car and charged up the battery. We were given the results of the tests they ran, which focused solely on the battery/electrical. We were told the brake and traction lights came on because of the battery issue and the sensors being “finicky” in the cold. Two days later, the same two lights came on again. This was followed by a large snowstorm where neither of us drove the car for a few days as my wife was working remotely. The brake light and traction light continue to be on, and the brakes barely function. The pedal touches the floor when braking. When doing a quick brake test going less than 20 mph (such as needing to stop when something runs out in the street, or the car in front of you slams on their brakes), the car has trouble stopping and makes a loud rumbling noise. We called the dealership to make this right, as we made the claim regarding the brake and traction lights within the 15 day warranty. They claim they looked at the car and “fixed it”, though they only focused on the battery and never tested the brake system or steering system, though those lights being on were why we made the claim. Since the lights turned on within days of buying the car, it’s clear the brakes at minimum were faulty when we purchased. Please, avoid this dealership at all costs. Safety, loyalty, and honesty are not characteristics they stand by. If you’re looking for someone to give you the run around, take advantage of two females, and be dishonest about the 15 day warranty, then by all means, good luck dealing with them. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy, because I wouldn’t want them to have issues with faulty brakes and end up in an accident, like we are trying...
Read moreLet me just start by saying I really never want to buy a car. We keep our cars a long time because I don’t want a car payment, but it was time.
We looked online at the type of vehicle we wanted. Choices were Mazda CX-50, Rouge, Sportage Tucson, CRV, or RAV 4. Long story short we decide on the CX-50.
We test drove it and talked with the folks at Biggers Mazda in Elgin. Our salesperson was Franco. We love Franco!! Here’s what we would say about Franco and Biggers; High Integrity and High Trustworthiness.
We were never pressured once to make a decision or buy quickly, or to try and get a deal done by the end of the month. They told us up front, we will give you our best price the first time and we will stand by that. Our purchase journey ended up taking a couple of months. I was certain they would come down on the price when we hadn’t made a decision, or especially when we checked back in with them at the end of the month. I even found out that I could purchase the same car from a different dealer that is part of the Costco auto program for $650 less. That dealer made things seem very shady and was super high pressure. I brought that up to the finance manager at Biggers, and he just shared with me that they believe in the value, the honesty, and the integrity they bring to the table, and they stand by their best price first time approach. I agree with everything they said. We were shown such friendliness, care and concern for getting us exactly what we wanted, and we felt like our purchase was important.
This is our first Mazda, we have been a Toyota and Nissan family up till now. So far we love it !
The Integrity and Care shown to us by Franco, and the others at Biggers, has simply made this the best car buying experience ever for us. Did we pay a little bit more, sure but the trust and piece of mind has been worth every penny !!! All I can say is go visit them, give them a chance, and then enjoy the same experience...
