BEWARE: THEIR ONLINE MENU AND PRICING =/= IN STORE MENU AND PRICING. (as of 5/3/2016)
Overall, Sushi Station has quite a bit going for it. Fast, tasty food, great wait staff, and a nice decor. I have been only twice and let me say, the first time was stellar. The second visit...not so much.
I ordered the Cajun Roll and it says online (2pcs) $2.25 and then when the bill comes it says $4.50 (3pcs). I bring this to the attention of my great server, Chris, and I show him the online menu to dispute the price. He goes to his manager (some lady in black standing around) and talks to her, then comes back and says that that's for the 2 pieces, and I had 3. I told him that's fine, and asked if they would be willing to split the difference ($1.13) and he goes back and tries to negotiate on my behalf. The Manager tells them to tell me that I need to pay closer attention as "Prices and ingredients are subject to change without prior notice.". Needless to say, at this point, I'm pretty peeved.
While I understand the card the manager played and realize she's well within her rights to point to that line, it doesn't instill any sense of loyalty in me to come back to here. Good customer service would dictate that you would accommodate the customer, but there was none of that from the manager. They explained that their host/web content manager didn't update the site on a regular basis. I told them that in the digital age, where people check an online menu before coming in, they should probably get on that. I will not be returning for the foreseeable future until this is remedied.
Edit: 5/19/2016
As of 5/19/2016, they have updated their website and made it reflect in restaurant. So as far as I'm concerned, I'll be...
Read moreIf I'm going out of sushi run out of my town the Sushi Station is my goes to I prefer the one in Rolling Meadows I love the waitresses and the guys that makes a sushi they never forget what I order and they are incredibly attentive I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes for any dish that wasn't on the belts so I cannot say enough good things about the Sushi Station at words Rolling Meadows Arlington Heights a side note when I go to the one out by Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights I always make a stop in at Mitsuwa and pick up my ingredients that I can't get any place else however my husband and I are not always up for the drive so in a pinch on Randall Road is good they do not have the variety that the other one always carries one example is they never carry NE fatty salmon or fatty tuna they seem to have cut back tremendously on what they offer that's not say it isn't tasty but slightly disappointing when I go there the other thing that I find interesting about the one on Randall Road is the wait staff they never seem to be in much of a hurry and you can wait for some time for your orders it's bizarre to me because yes they are a bigger location but they also have a huge staff on all the time I often see my food up on the warming plate and I watch my waitress walk back and forth and never pick it up and bring it to me unless I remind her so it's the small details like that that make me really appreciate the constant care never having to wait...
Read moreWe arrived at this location as a party of three. Within a few minutes, we were seated. My family ate sushi off of the sushi belt. I ordered from the menu. Fast forward 1-hour later and my family was done eating while I was still waiting for my food to arrive. The server came by a couple of times to apologize for the delay. We gave up waiting, paid for the food we ate, and left. I was never given a valid reason as to why the food was seriously delayed but I also didn't care by this point.
An interesting observation on the cleaning procedures: when we were seated, the table and seats were all wet. It looked like somebody did a sloppy job wiping everything down. You tend to see this happen when the cleaners are working quickly, not efficiently. Luckily, my wife had some paper towels in her purse so we used them to dry everything off or else our butts would've been soaked through our pants.
While everyone else was eating, we took notice of one of the cleaners spraying the tables and chairs right near patrons eating their food. Anyone who grew up cleaning in their home learned to always spray into the rag away from the food and then wipe your area down. You could actually see the mist bouncing off of the table and floating in the air over the patrons' food. This is a huge no-no. Better training must be given to the staff on proper cleaning procedures. I don't think people want to eat bleach...
