My sister has been working hard to find a reliable vehicle which meets her needs. So when she came across a 2019 Ford Explorer listed at $23,900 on Kelley Blue Book and Twin Pine Ford’s own website, she was thrilled. Finally, something that seemed within reach. She scheduled a visit and went in for a test drive.
The usual dealership song and dance followed — she was greeted with the typical salesman smile and handed the keys for a test drive. While she was out, they evaluated her trade-in. She’d already done her homework. An online buying service had offered her $3,000 cash, and KBB listed her car's trade-in value around $3,900.
So when the salesman came back with an offer of just $1,900, it was a slap in the face. After some haggling, they bumped it to $2,750 — still well below what her car was actually worth, but she was willing to proceed.
And that’s when things really went off the rails.
Despite being clearly advertised at $23,900, they suddenly claimed the car was $24,900. When questioned, they said the $23,900 price was only valid if you had a trade-in — not because you got a discount for trading in, but because the lower price already assumes a trade-in worth at least $1,000.
Let me repeat that:
The real price is $24,900.
They advertise it as $23,900, assuming you’ll trade in a car worth at least $1,000.
The site should just list the car at $24,900 and say, “with a qualifying trade-in valued at $1,000 or more, the price could be $23,900 or less depending on trade value.” But that’s not what they do. Instead:
They advertised the car at $23,900,
Lured my sister in with that number,
Then jacked the price up by $1,000 after wasting her time,
And lowballed her trade-in.
And just to top it off — their website chatbot “Jerry,” (who is an AI chat bot according to the salesman) also confirmed the $23,900 price before she arrived. When we pointed that out, they casually brushed it off with, “Yeah, we keep telling them it’s misleading.” Seriously?
This place banks on fine print, confusion, and desperation to sell cars. The pricing is deceptive, their trade-in offers are insulting, and their tactics are shady at best.
Let their inventory rot on the lot. Don’t give this dealership your business.
Side note, before you go to this location to purchase anything know that their BBB...
Read moreTwin Pine Ford was the best car dealership experience that we have ever experienced! Everyone we met and worked with was kind and knowledgeable. We specifically had Seth as our sales consultant, who did not add any extra stress or pressure throughout the process. Our experience in the past has always had an added uneasiness when working with a sales consultant at a car dealership, but Seth wasn’t trying to push a sale. He wanted to help ensure we were happy with our purchase. Not once did we feel like it was only about business. Seth created an atmosphere that lacked pressure and allowed us to put our guard down to enjoy buying a car for once. Even when it came to a used car's imperfections, Seth went above and beyond to have them addressed and checked before receiving the vehicle while keeping us informed on the status. He continued to check in with us while waiting for our finance manager and even escorted us out afterward. Our financing manager, Quinn, was also just as friendly and knowledgeable. He was very thorough with showing and explaining our options while not forcing any on us. We would recommend Twin Pine Ford to anyone looking for a car. It was refreshing to ask questions without judgment while receiving informative and to-the-point answers. We greatly appreciated the no BS/fully transparent model they stand by, allowing great price points and less obnoxious negotiating that can quickly become overwhelming and unnecessary. The entire process was also the shortest we have ever experienced! We were searching for a particular car, tried multiple dealers in our area, and took the chance of a 2-hour drive to Twin Pine Ford. We could not be more appreciative and happy with our experience! We hope our next car can be...
Read moreI had an incredible experience at Twin Pine Auto, thanks to the outstanding service from both Xavier and Sean Fry. I came all the way from Dover, Delaware—over two hours each way—and the experience was absolutely worth it.
On my first visit, I worked with Xavier. Although the vehicle they had at the time wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, Xavier was extremely helpful, professional, and never pushy. He still took the time to walk me through other options, answer all my questions, and made me feel valued as a customer. His honesty and excellent communication left such a great impression that I knew I’d return when the right car came along.
Sure enough, a few weeks later, I saw a BMW X3 in their inventory and made the trip again. This time, I worked with Sean Fry, who picked up right where Xavier left off. When I arrived, the vehicle was already pulled up and ready to go. Sean was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the process smooth from start to finish. He walked me through the features, let me take my time with the test drive, and broke down the financing options clearly—no pressure, no games.
Sean and Xavier make a phenomenal team. Xavier set the tone with his upfront transparency (even giving me an out-the-door price before I ever left home), and Sean followed through with a flawless delivery experience.
They turned what can be a stressful, high-pressure process into something easy, efficient, and actually enjoyable. If you’re in the market for a car—no matter how far the drive—I highly recommend Twin Pine Auto. Ask for Xavier or Sean. You’ll be...
