Social Security Administration — Local services in East Hartford

I have mixed feelings. The person at the counter was polite, quick and efficient. It was an easy experience. However, the rating is based more on the security guard & the policy of making people wait in the hallway and not being able to sign in when they arrive. I understand that it is likely not the security guard, but more so a policy the SSA office has chosen to adopt, but it's pretty poor. If it was strictly about the room being too crowded I could understand asking people to wait in the hallway, but there's no reason to not let them sign in first and then go back out to wait. The only reason I can see for not letting them sign in until they're allowed in the room would be to reflect shorter wait times (when you sign in, the ticket is date and time stamped), and if that's the case,...

Guard when you walk in is very friendly and asks a few necessary questions. Very helpful and definitely deserves a raise in addition to be So Nice, He has to stand all day, as I'm almost sure is necessar, though not sure as I have seen other places with a chair and small easily movable desk. It would be nice to have that option to sit it a comfortable chair as the office workers do, but he moves around a little to help with ticket machine & other things. very disappointing and incompetent. I went to the office a month ago just to update my status and the clerk who handled my case joined my first name to my middle name and also that of my daughter's. I have no legal document showing my name in that fashion, yet I have to be the one running up and down taking time from work to fix a mistake the office made. Then the clerk I spoke with today had the nerve to be arguing with me. Very poor service.
