Dollar General — Local services in East Orange

The store is overcrowded with stock. Pallets of stock in aisles. Employees on cell phones behind the counter while ringing customers this includes MANAGEMENT. The lines are always LONG because there is one cashier ringing while other employees are stocking shelves are in an isle talking. Some of the employees are ignorant. My favorite employee is the new dark-skinned big boned young lady. She wears glasses and long braids. She is extremely nice and the closest to professionalism I have ever seen in this Dollar General. The store hours are 7 am-9 pm, well the past 2 nights I have gone there and the store was CLOSED at 8:15 pm!!!! It seems the employees are making their own hours. If the corporation closed the store at 8:00 now, wouldn’t it be courtesy to customers to put a sign on front door announcing new store hours? Another thing, I’m in Dollar General at least 4-5 times a week. I always buy cigarettes and every time I’m ID’d. I’m 56 years old. The employees know who I am because I’m there all the time. I was told the corporation made it a policy to ID everyone no matter how many times a day they come in. When you have a regular customer you know there face, sometimes their names so I know damn well they know a person is over 18/21 to buy cigarettes!!!!! It’s annoying and inconvenient. Dollar General was out of bags for over 3 months,...

Much better store than the Family Dollar that was there before. They work hard to keep the store clean also. Good priced items too.

UPDATE: I have to revise this. Lately, every time I go in there, the aisles are blocked with merchandise, boxes, just not as clean as it was when they opened up. I don't have a problem with the people there, they actually work very hard, but the store is not being kept in good order as before. It could be they are getting in shipments and maybe not enough staff to stock shelves, not sure. But last time I was there I had to keep going through all these "detours" to get to some of the aisles. It is good to see they brought back one of the managers that was there when it was Dollar Tree, I am confident he will make sure the store...

Ridiculous!! 1st there were NO shopping carts available and there were only 2 other customers in the store using a cart. 2nd...though I'm very happy to see they have ordered or revieved a ton of stock...but...tell me WHY there were multiple U-boats filled with stock in EVERY isle and against one side of the shelves making shopping impossible. There was no way to move the U-boats to get at the items on the shelves and you could barely walk down the Isles because they were filled with unopened stock. One of the employees whenever she is there is behind the counter complaining shes tired or not feeling well and moving like a snail. And as usual...my digital coupons did NOT come off. Totally disgusted with Dollar General stores...these things do not happen in...
