Ambassador Fish and Chicken — Restaurant in East Orange

I would not go back to this location. I was there 2 weeks ago. The young lady didn’t seem to want to acknowledge me when I walked in. She was so into her phone. I gave my order, asked about the restroom and was told to make sure it’s locked when I come out. I went into the restroom. There was no soap. The soap dispenser looked as if it was ripped out. There was no toilet paper and the few pieces of napkins I would not touch. I asked the young lady for toilet paper and she gave me the same type of napkins that was in restroom. They were inappropriate. They are to give costumers with their food. They are not meant to be used in the restroom. They were way too thin. I believe the toilet wasn’t all that great either. I question if the cook or the young lady washes their hands since there’s no soap. The cook was using gloves to cook my food. When I came to see if my order was ready, again the young lady was heavily engrossed in her phone barely acknowledging my return and went right back to her phone as I was leaving and not thanking me for the business.

I wanted to put a small order over the phone this past Friday. The young lady said I would have to do it person. I told her I was 2 min drive away, but she said I had to come in. I decided I would go home and cook the frozen whiting in my car as I know what type of oil I would be using (olive). Though their fish is good, their fish is quite greasy & most likely not healthy oil. I was feeling sick with hunger, but made my way home to cook my own which was...

I had a taste for some fried fish tonight and I remembered the few times I had Amabassadors in East Orange that the fish was made to order, always hot, fresh and very good. Well not the case anymore, I should have turned around in my car when I started smelling the fish smell and not in a good delicious way. The fishy smell of old fish fried and given to patrons in the Black neighborhoods by pur businesses who we support but give us BS. Well that's exactly what I got tonight smelling cold whiting straps that are hard and nasty and old fish. They must be under new management and the new people could care less about providing a good product to their customers. I sooooo want to patronize businesses in my community but the lack of integrity and respect for providing good service and products is a complete NO for me! So my money just went in the garbage. I usually go there for the catfish dinner. I've been pleased most times but lately, I've gotten disappointed because they keep forgetting to add the coleslaw on the side. When it started happening, I started checking the box but there have been times I forgot to do it, and alas, no coleslaw. Last week I tried their lemon pepper chicken but I couldn't finish it because it was TOO peppery. The bread had soaked up some of the pepper as well. I just couldn't eat it and not because it may have felt spicy, but because it was extremely salty.

I'd change the rating because the catfish is good and the dinner combo is mostly good, but if they don't complete their combos or don't check the pepper/salt on their food, I'll have to reconsider...
